By Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson

Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

Rand al'Thor (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

The Dragon Reborn, the champion who must confront the Dark One at the Last Battle. Calm, resolute, and quietly awesome in his power over the cleansed male One Power, missing his left hand, he has united many of the nations and now stands ready to lead the world into Tarmon Gai'don and to face the Shadow at Shayol Ghul itself.

Mat Cauthon (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A ta'veren gambler and brilliant, reluctant battle commander from the Two Rivers, one-eyed after the price he paid rescuing Moiraine, carrying the memories of dead generals and a medallion that turns aside the One Power. Husband to the Seanchan Empress and holder of the Horn of Valere's fate, he is one of the few who can turn the tide of a battlefield by instinct.

Perrin Aybara (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A blacksmith, wolfbrother, and battle lord from the Two Rivers, master of the world of dreams and able to speak with wolves. At peace at last with his gifts and his wife, Faile, at his side, he commands a great army and stands ready to guard the Dragon Reborn wherever the fight leads.

Egwene al'Vere (Supporting)

Appears from the start

The Amyrlin Seat of a reunited White Tower, young but formidable, having broken a usurper and the Black Ajah's grip on the sisters. She leads the Aes Sedai into the Last Battle and presses the nations to bind themselves to a lasting peace, wary of the Dragon Reborn's plan to break the seals on the Dark One's prison.

Elayne Trakand (Supporting)

Appears from the start

The Queen of Andor and Cairhien, an Aes Sedai, one of the women bound to Rand and carrying his children. Proud, capable, and determined to lead from the front, she takes a central role in commanding the united armies of the Light.

Nynaeve al'Meara (Supporting)

Appears from the start

The former Wisdom of Emond's Field, an Aes Sedai and the most gifted Healer of her age, wife to Lan. Fierce and stubborn, she is one of Rand's closest companions and means to stand beside him to the very end, whatever it demands of her.

Lan Mandragoran (Supporting)

Appears from the start

The uncrowned king of Malkier and one of the deadliest swordsmen alive, bonded to his wife, Nynaeve. Having raised an army on his ride north, he holds the line at Tarwin's Gap against the Shadow's hordes pouring out of the Blight.

Moiraine Damodred (Supporting)

Appears from the start

The Aes Sedai who first found the Dragon Reborn and set his path, believed dead for years until Mat rescued her from beyond the twisted Tower of Ghenjei. Weakened but wise and unbending, she returns to guide Rand and to help hold the fractious rulers to a common cause at the last.

Min Farshaw (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A practical young woman who reads glimpses of the future in the auras she alone can see, and a keen scholar of prophecy. One of the three women who love Rand, she works to interpret the omens that may decide the Last Battle.

Aviendha (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A full Wise One of the Aiel, once a warrior, proud and fiercely honest, a strong channeler. One of the three women tied to Rand by love and prophecy, she takes her place among the Aiel forces committed to the Last Battle.

Tuon (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Now Fortuona, Empress of the Seanchan, small, composed, and ruthless, wed by her people's custom to Mat Cauthon. Ruler of a vast empire whose armies collar channelers as weapons, she weighs whether and how to bring her power to bear against the Shadow.

Cadsuane Melaidhrin (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A legendary and formidable Aes Sedai, imperious and shrewd, long a difficult mentor to the Dragon Reborn. Respected and feared in equal measure, she remains close to the center of events as the Light marshals for the end.
