A Rising Thunder
By David Weber
The thirteenth entry in the Honor Harrington series continues the interstellar conflict pitting the Star Kingdom of Manticore against the vast Solarian League. As Manticore recalls its merchant shipping and closes wormhole termini to Solarian traffic, the League's civilian leadership grapples with the resulting economic crisis while still preparing a large-scale offensive. Beowulf's defense establishment resists being drawn into a risky two-front assault against Manticore. In the Maya sector, a governor and his admiral advance a secret buildup of military power, betting that a wider crisis will conceal their preparations. Elsewhere, Anton Zilwicki and Victor Cachat escort a Mesa defector whose testimony may upend what is known about Mesa, redirecting toward Haven and its peace negotiations as a large Solarian invasion fleet gets underway toward Manticore.
