Armageddon

By Craig Alanson

The eighth entry in the Expeditionary Force series follows Colonel Joe Bishop and the alien AI Skippy as they lead the starship Flying Dutchman on a covert mission to find a refuge world for humanity, whose position among hostile alien species remains precarious even after recent victories. Behind a cover story of routine reconnaissance, the ship carries scientists and UN commissioners through unexplored wormhole networks and dead alien worlds, using recovered ancient technology to push beyond the galaxy's known reach. Skippy's confidence in the mission conceals real gaps in his own knowledge, and each discovery, from abandoned ruins to hints of a rival superintelligence, raises the stakes of finding somewhere safe before Earth's location is exposed.
