Babe, The Sheep-Pig characters

A small pig won by Farmer Hogget at a village fair. Babe is observant, courteous, and eager to make himself useful on the farm. Adopted by the sheepdog Fly, he becomes fascinated by her work and begins learning to move sheep without frightening them.

A quiet, patient farmer who wins Babe by correctly estimating the piglet's weight. Hogget notices unusual abilities in his animals and is willing to test what he observes even when it runs against custom or risks making him look foolish.

Farmer Hogget's practical wife. She views the new pig chiefly in terms of the meals he might eventually provide and is puzzled by her husband's growing attachment to him.

Farmer Hogget's experienced sheepdog, who comforts the newly arrived Babe and treats him as one of her own puppies. Fly teaches him the basics of farm life and of working with sheep, though Babe develops a gentler method than a dog would normally use.
