Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

Harry Dresden (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

Chicago's professional wizard, a wizard-for-hire and White Council member who protects ordinary people from supernatural threats. By this point in the series he has taken on the mantle of the Winter Knight, mortal champion of the Winter Court of Faerie, binding him to its ruthless queen even as he clings to his own conscience and to his friends and family. Powerful, sardonic, and reckless in defense of those he loves.

Karrin Murphy (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A former Chicago police officer who once led the Special Investigations unit and remains one of Harry's most trusted allies. Tough, disciplined, and fiercely loyal, she continues to stand on the front line of Chicago's supernatural conflicts as a fighter and organizer even without a badge.

Molly Carpenter (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Harry's former apprentice, the eldest Carpenter daughter, who has since taken on the mantle of the Winter Lady, a powerful role within the Winter Court of Faerie. Once an idealistic student of magic, she now carries cold, dangerous power and the burdens of faerie politics while trying to hold on to her humanity.

Thomas Raith (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A White Court vampire who feeds on human emotion, and Harry's half-brother and steadfast friend. He fights to keep his conscience against his predatory nature, and quietly guards the people he loves while concealing the extent of his loyalties.

Mouse (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Harry's enormous, uncannily intelligent dog, a Tibetan Temple Dog whose calm presence hides real supernatural power. Deeply loyal and gentle with those he guards, he serves as a protector to the household, including Harry's daughter.

Maggie Dresden (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Harry's young daughter, whom he fought desperately to save and now works to protect and to know. A brave, good-hearted child growing up on the edges of a dangerous world, watched over by the household's guardians.

John Marcone

Appears from the start

The most powerful crime lord in Chicago, a coldly disciplined boss who controls much of the city's organized crime. Ruthless and intelligent, he keeps his own rigid codes, protects children absolutely, and has carved out a place for himself among the city's supernatural powers.

Waldo Butters (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A Chicago medical examiner and unlikely ally of Harry's, a clever, geeky, good-hearted man who helps with the forensic and technical side of supernatural cases. Brave despite having no innate magic, he has repeatedly proven his worth in Harry's world.
