Cinderella recap

After her mother dies, Cinderella is mistreated by her new stepmother and stepsisters and made to work as the family's servant. When the prince holds a royal celebration, her stepfamily refuses to take her. Aid connected with her mother's grave provides beautiful clothing, allowing her to attend unrecognized and dance with the prince. She repeatedly leaves before he can learn who she is, but on her final flight she loses a slipper. The prince searches for the woman it fits. The stepsisters' attempts to pass as its owner are exposed; it fits Cinderella, who also has the matching slipper. The prince marries her, and the stepsisters are punished at the wedding.

The prince takes the lost slipper from house to house. Cinderella's stepsisters try to force their feet into it, but their fraud is revealed. Cinderella is finally allowed to try, and the slipper fits her. She produces its mate, confirming that she is the young woman who danced with the prince. He chooses Cinderella as his bride and removes her from the household that had treated her as a servant. At the wedding, the stepsisters' attempt to share in her new fortune ends in punishment, while Cinderella becomes the prince's wife.
