Clone World

By B. V. Larson

In the twelfth Undying Mercenaries novel, financially strapped legionnaire James McGill volunteers for an experimental and dangerous assignment: being transmitted through an unstable rift onto a Rigelian orbital city to gather intelligence and sabotage its defenses, a process that has already permanently lost several earlier test subjects. His missions escalate from reconnaissance to open sabotage, drawing him into contact with the operative Claver, who works for Rigel and threatens McGill's daughter to stop him. When the sabotage triggers a catastrophic orbital collapse and Rigel demands McGill's permanent death as the price of peace, Earth's senior command turns out to be compromised by impostors, pulling McGill into a covert campaign against Claver.
