Zac enters the Imperial Graveyard to complete a seal cycle and bring the Centurion Project's weapons against the Kan'Tanu. A confrontation around the Epiclesis Bell lets him advance his Dao, destroy the entity within the Bell, and rescue Velary, but Kator then forces him into a lethal partnership. After a hazardous voyage, the Aphelion reaches a corrupted Centurion base. Zac's scattered allies restore its systems while he learns more about Ultum, the Void Emperor Kars, and the Lost Era. They activate the base's defenses, defeat two foreign gods, and ruin the Kan'Tanu Pope's attempted ascension. Kator betrays Zac for the Flame Bearer seal and dies in their final battle. Zac survives only with a catastrophically damaged core and unfinished breakthrough. Catheya freezes him in a stable restorative stasis as the full seal cycle opens the Left Imperial Palace and the fifth-pillar contest begins.

Previously: Zac Atwood rules the Atwood Empire while cultivating through separate human and Draugr bodies. He has become a Flame Bearer candidate in the Ultum trial, where seal bearers compete for access to ancient courts and the Imperial Palace. His allies include his wife Catheya, the demon Ogras, his disciple Emily, the spear cultivator Joanna, the flame cultivator Kruta, and the array specialist Galau. The Atwood Empire is fighting the invading Kan'Tanu as the wider Zekia sector grows increasingly unstable. Zac also carries dangerous remnants tied to creation and oblivion, a Void Emperor bloodline he does not fully understand, and unresolved ties to ancient powers. The Imperial Graveyard offers a possible route to complete the seal cycle and awaken Centurion Project weapons known as foreign gods. It also draws rival seal bearers, the Undead Empire, the Sangha, and other powerful factions. Velary remains captive within the Epiclesis Bell, giving Zac a personal reason to confront the relic as he prepares to enter the Graveyard.

So far this book: Rava subjects Zac to a compressed training program intended to repair his weak Dao heart before the Imperial Graveyard expedition. Zac improves through the Endless Crusade and other costly facilities, but deliberately refuses to force an earthly Dao before his insights are ready. Catheya returns after training toward pure ice, while Kruta comes back from Iz's care with much stronger flame abilities. Iz explains that Zac bears several marks of authority and agrees to investigate the Graveyard opportunity independently. In Undead Empire territory, Kator removes Tavza from the mission and seals communications. Tavza reaches a death-aligned facet of the imperial ruler, learns that the empire's heart is sealed, and accepts an uncertain route to change the situation. Kator then arrives without her and gives a doubtful explanation for her absence. Zac boards the Aphelion with a deliberately small infiltration force including Catheya, Kruta, Joanna, Galau, Ogras, Emily, and specialist support. Kator warns that Undead Empire interests have placed a bounty on Zac and openly admits he may betray him if the reward outweighs their mission. The Aphelion departs for the Graveyard, but Kator immediately notices Zac concealing a breakthrough.

Kator places Zac under observation, but Esmeralda conceals his two bodies while Void Mountain evolves. Before the planned lure can proceed, the Sangha intercepts the Aphelion and attempts to bind Zac karmically to its fourth mountain. Divine Alliance Autarchs seize the Epiclesis Bell, trapping Zac inside a confrontation between powers far above him. Sendor's projection removes an Autarch's brand and severs the Sangha's developing bond. Zac triggers creation and oblivion atavisms together, forcing the opposed primordial visions into contact. Tavza enters the vision through chaos and helps him recover his identity, allowing him to absorb the remnants without surrendering himself to their ancient wills. In a secluded refuge, the Autarchs Bay Z and Azu test Zac's understanding. He chooses a path where creation supports life and evolution while oblivion supports death and inexorability. They reward that choice with research into chaos and the remnants, protective power, untainted Dao instruction, and a one-use Chaos Cipher leading to the Waking Nautilus. Zac finishes the conceptual foundation of his path, but the Bell confrontation and the waiting Autarchs remain outside the refuge.

Zac returns to the crisis and advances his battle path into the Dao of Defiant War. Heavenly punishment catches the interfering Autarchs while Zac uses borrowed creation and oblivion power to split the battlefield and expose the foreign entity inside the Epiclesis Bell. He forms a dangerous glimpse of chaos, crosses into the damaged Bell, and finds Velary under layers of corruption. When the entity destroys itself and the Bell, Zac uses his own tribulation and healing energies to burn the taint from Velary without losing her. The System returns the surviving Aphelion to the dead zone, fundamentally transformed by the ordeal. Kator reveals that the upgraded ship contains a hidden conditional beacon built into its original propulsion system, likely allowing an outside network to detect seal signals. He then forces Zac into a System-enforced Solidarity Link that shares energy and injuries between them. Kator also displays a bomb containing a sealed rift to the Lower Plains, ensuring that removing him could destroy the vessel. Zac accepts the temporary partnership under coercion while ordering his allies to search for a safe way to defeat both safeguards. By the time he reviews his gains, he has three developing Dao branches but remains injured and tied to Kator for the long journey ahead.

The Aphelion's route through the awakened Imperial Graveyard becomes a succession of unstable troves and resentment storms. Zac recruits Esmeralda to investigate the Solidarity Link, promising her first choice of prizes from Kator if they defeat him. The expedition clears an eye-shaped illusory trove, gathers additional seals, and repeatedly escapes anomalies that threaten to collapse around the ship. Iz separately attacks Kaltosa Lu's Grand Centigrade Foundry. She damages his formation and enables two followers to claim seals, but Kaltosa escapes deeper into the Graveyard. Zac spars with Kator, adapts his combat methods to his new earthly Dao, and discovers that the transformed Aphelion contains dormant life- and death-attuned propulsion systems. Velary awakens and reveals that the Bell's hostile entity survived by severing its connection to the relic. Her forbidden inheritance still binds her to its influence, and it seeks a Mercurial Courts bell in the Anima Court as a source for rebirth. After ten more days, the crew shelters inside a barrier made by sacrificial space-eating larvae. Resentment possesses part of the brood, forcing Zac, Catheya, Kator, and Ogras to contain a chain of spatial explosions. The ship escapes just as the failing shelter becomes a larger dimensional storm.

The Aphelion crosses a massive storm wall but loses engines and shields, leaving it exposed when a Kan'Tanu destroyer approaches. Zac ambushes the vessel, only to find Black Heart Cult elites protected by a parasitized void beast. A spatial cultivator and a Black Heart pugilist isolate him, while Kator faces their half-step monarch commander. Zac kills both peak opponents after surviving spatial confinement and layered nightmare attacks, then rejoins the main battle. He and Kator combine their efforts to kill the commander, but the void beast's destruction broadcasts a signal that draws further pursuit. While repairs continue, Zac uses the battle's insight to survive a combined tribulation and form the earthly Daos of Reborn Life and Sealed Death. At peak middle hegemony, his earthly Daos number three: Reborn Life, Sealed Death, and Defiant War. The repaired ship advances toward the Centurion beacon, gathering more seal pieces, but heart-curse-controlled corpses expose its route. Seven hostile vessels corral the Aphelion with monarchs blocking every conventional escape. Zac activates one of the hidden propulsion modules. Rather than continue through the Graveyard, the entire ship is abruptly transported into Kalasutra, the Threaded Hell.

Zac uses his death Dao to guide the Aphelion through Kalasutra's erasing threads, gaining enormous travel distance in minutes. A funeral procession halts the ship, and the being inside its coffin addresses Zac before attacking his soul. Zac spends divine energy to trigger the life-attuned system and escape back into the Graveyard. During his collapse, Ogras and an illusionist secretly replace Kator's bomb rift with a convincing false version, removing one of Kator's safeguards. A Centurion guidance rune then leads the damaged vessel through a storm and into a hidden base saturated with Dead Dao from the Lost Era. The seal bearers enter while Ibtep and Jowl remain aboard. Corruption entities infest the base and compromise its puppets, forcing the group through damaged gates that scatter its members. Carl's team reaches a shipyard, Catheya and Kruta land near an overgrown stellar generator, and other allies are separated elsewhere. Zac, Emily, Galau, Ogras, and Kator reach Polaris Vault, where a recurring breach floods the chamber with corruption. They recover the Starfall Scripture and several degraded treasures, but cannot repair the exit before the vault begins to collapse. With the base under outside attack, Zac's party chooses to enter the Lost Plain breach rather than be destroyed inside the vault.

The Lost Plain attacks cultivators through their connection to Dao. Zac's unusual affinities let him keep moving after his companions collapse, leading him to Walzo, the ancient custodian of the Ultum Courts. Walzo explains that the region is a decaying fragment of Starclad and identifies Zac as a Flame Bearer carrying the legacy of Kars, the Void Emperor and Zac's ancestor. He describes Ultum as a path intended to raise multiple candidates and links the current trial to the Eternal's reconstruction of reality after the Lost Era. Returned to the base, Zac reaches the Centurion beacon and gains partial command through Imperial faith. His allies are scattered across the failing installation: Catheya and Kruta struggle with the generator, Carl secures ancient vessels, Joanna reaches the Orionis Blade, and a mentalist holds back an awakening foreign-god puppet. The Kan'Tanu Pope enters the ascension chamber to attempt his Dao confirmation. Joanna uses Zac's faith to awaken the Blade, severely wounds a foreign god, and saves the mentalist. Zac activates all eight beacon towers and awakens two Eternal Guardians to defend the base. Kator then decides Zac has become too dangerous. He exploits the Solidarity Link and a hidden temporal miracle bone, inflicting a catastrophic temporal wound. Esmeralda freezes the link's condition for five minutes, and Zac begins a late-hegemony breakthrough to force Kator to share the resulting tribulation.

Zac ignites his cosmic core and routes the resulting destruction through the Solidarity Link. Ogras neutralizes Kator's bomb and helps defend Zac while both men endure repeated tribulations. The Kan'Tanu Pope's sacrificial plan also fails when Zac commandeers the base's Imperial faith, leaving the Pope exposed to more heavenly punishment. Kator unveils the White Sky Phalanx's domain and reaches for the Flame Bearer seal, but Zac claims its enlightenment and creates a temporary void realm beyond the reach of heaven and the System. There he bisects Kator through his war bones, core, and soul structure. Kator dies, and the Solidarity Link finally unravels. Sendor uses Esmeralda's exhausted hourglass to reverse part of the damage to Zac's shattered core, but substantial material remains lost. Elsewhere, Catheya and Kruta escape the stellar generator, Carl and Galau turn a commandeered vessel against the Pope, and Zac detonates the base's remaining faith and stellar power. The Eternal Guardians destroy both attacking foreign gods and expose the Pope to heaven. A complete nine-person seal cycle forms, opening entry to the Left Imperial Palace. Zac distributes seals to Catheya and Kruta, repairs his core nucleus with rare treasures, and escapes the collapsing void realm. The core remains defective, and the accelerated trial is now dangerously close.

The Centurion base continues breaking apart after its Eternal Guardians open a route into Zerber and attack Kan'Tanu chapters. Tavza, still wounded by chaos and cut off on another Graveyard route, reverses part of a living fortress to enter catacombs that may lead toward the Hollow Court. On Earth, the Atwood Empire prepares for the sector's likely abandonment by closing most fronts, planning Earth's advancement, recruiting refugees, and purging hostile infiltrators. Thea confronts her former Sangha mentor and learns that the Sangha deliberately accelerated Zekia's collapse through manipulation, delayed warnings, conflict, and assassination. Zac has only three days before the trial, while his ruined breakthrough needs much longer. Ogras and Catheya cross the damaged base to retrieve law-bearing body and soul treasures. Zac uses them in an emergency method that links his heart, body, and soul, and Catheya freezes him with her master's dragon-scale safeguard before trial transport can destroy him. By the final chapter, the arrays are stable and Zac's soul is strengthening. Velary monitors him, Kruta stands ready to counter excessive cold, and the survivors prepare to depart. Catheya and Ogras still seek compatible destinies, while Joanna remains focused on Zac. Beyond reality, ancient powers gather as a concealed continent rises and the fifth-pillar contest begins. Zac ends the book alive, frozen, and slowly improving, but his core and breakthrough remain unfinished.

Elsewhere, Tavza remains wounded on a separate Graveyard route, Velary's forbidden inheritance remains unresolved, and the Atwood Empire prepares for self-sufficient expansion after learning that the Sangha deliberately helped engineer Zekia's collapse.
