John Sutton arrives in the Robain Mountains after leaving the Royal Lepirian Army, intending to retire on a farm granted to him near Fairford. Village leader Holden confirms the deed but warns that the neglected property is not what its records promise. At the homestead, John finds Ellie and Ben living in poverty while Wale and his men claim the farm's six cows and bull under a supposed debt. John takes possession, allows the siblings to remain as workers, and gives Wale three days to return the livestock. John also encounters the Red Coral Adventuring Team, whose stated search for an heirloom conceals an interest in a tower. Fairford treats Ellie as a witch, and she implicates Holden in the rumors that isolated her. George directs John to Wolf Den, where Wale serves a bandit leader known as the Wolf King. John goes there alone, defeats the defenders, and returns with every stolen animal. With the cattle restored and Ellie and Ben established in his household, his initial retirement quest is complete.
