Cal (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

A sentient Dungeon Core beneath the Silverwood Tree. With his recent memories fragmented and his dungeon damaged, Cal rebuilds his defenses, searches for his missing wisp Dani, and pursues enough power to survive enemies far beyond his current reach.

Unidentified spiritual-rank intruder (Antagonist)

Appears from the start

An unidentified man of at least spiritual rank who enters Cal's core chamber, promises to return if Cal becomes interesting, and tears a tunnel through the dungeon as he leaves the mountain.

Dale (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

The newly appointed baron of Mountaindale and leader of an adventuring party. Dale is linked to Cal through a beast core, knows the dungeon is sentient, and is advancing rapidly while trying to protect his companions and territory.

Dani (Supporting)

Also known as Cal's wisp

Appears from the start

Cal's missing wisp and co-creator. Her absence has left Cal unstable and determined to recover her.

Dani's captor (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 9

The dark-robed figure holding Dani captive in sewer tunnels. He keeps her restrained by a mana tether and inflicts pain when she refuses his demanded form of address.

Hans (Supporting)

A senior member of Dale's party who serves as a practical adviser and combat instructor.

Rose (Supporting)

A half-elf archer in Dale's party who provides the group with ranged support.

Adam (Supporting)

Appears from the start

The healing cleric in Dale's party. Exposure to concentrated celestial essence has visibly changed Adam and given him unusual insight, though his companions still rely on his practical skill when dungeon expeditions turn costly.

Tom (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A resilient barbarian in Dale's party whose lost arm is nearly restored. Tom brings close-combat strength to the group while recovering from severe injuries.

Minya (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

Cal's bound outside agent and purchaser. Minya supplies rare materials, warns him that the council considers an unstable dungeon a catastrophic threat, and confronts him with evidence of the deaths caused during his impaired period.

Bob (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

A goblin practitioner attuned to wind and infernal essence. Cal gives Bob an opal-cored aspen staff and begins making the goblins' home more habitable at their request.

Wandering Boss (Supporting)

The recurring goblin shaman encountered by adventurers at multiple half-hex forts. He uses infernal rituals, an opal-and-aspen staff, and phantom armor defenses against attackers.

Dale's moon elf instructor (Supporting)

An unnamed moon elf assassin who secretly trains Dale and considers his progress inadequate.

Craig (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

Dale's teacher in earth essence and cultivation, providing instruction alongside Dale's separate combat training.

Tyler (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

A merchant expanding into exotic weapons and dungeon materials. Tyler commissions Dale's party to gather a wide selection of dungeon specimens.

Rail (Minor)

First appears in chapter 8

An armored basher boss on the dungeon's second floor. Dale's party prolongs the fight to gather rare variants before killing Rail and taking his core.

Frank (Supporting)

Also known as Guildmaster Frank

First appears in chapter 12

Mountaindale's local guildmaster, caught between Dale's authority and pressure from the wider Adventurers Guild. Frank wants greater control over the dungeon but is reassured that Dale will not accept an imposed replacement for him.

Brianna (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 13

A dark elf princess and Dale's partner in a binding mana contract. Brianna controls the dark elves' agreement concerning access to the Silverwood Tree and supports Dale when foreign delegations challenge his authority.

Beor (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 13

A dwarf whose rescinded exile restores his standing as crown prince by his own account. Beor uses that status to take part in treaty discussions and agrees to return with signed documents for the proposed arrangements.

Thaddeus (Minor)

First appears in chapter 13

A dwarf representative who recognizes Beor's restored royal standing and negotiates over trade and access to the dungeon.

Infernal dungeon (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 14

A newly created sentient dungeon fed with sacrifices and valuables while Dani is held nearby. It expands rapidly and reproduces artifacts supplied by its creators.

Henry (Supporting)

Also known as Crown Prince Henry

First appears in chapter 18

Crown prince of the Lion Kingdom and an allied ruler involved in planning Mountaindale's future. Henry supports an international academy and helps shape arrangements that would permit students and teachers to cross trade barriers.

Marie (Supporting)

Also known as Crown Princess Marie

First appears in chapter 18

Crown princess of the Phoenix Kingdom and an allied ruler participating in negotiations over Mountaindale. Marie supports the proposed academy and its international access arrangements alongside Henry.

Snowball (Minor)

First appears in chapter 22

A recurring boss on the dungeon's fourth floor. Dale's party farms Snowball while testing the floor's revised hazards, placing the creature at the center of the group's effort to gather stronger materials and rewards.

Dirty old man

First appears in chapter 23

An older man who recognizes that a concealed A-ranked summoner entering Mountaindale is a necromancer.

Golden-haired swordsman

First appears in chapter 23

A golden-haired swordsman who enters Mountaindale while following an older man he is trying to find.

Hostile A-ranked summoner (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 23

An A-ranked summoner who arrives with the hostile force entering Mountaindale. Although he conceals his nature, an observer identifies him as a necromancer.

Fifth-floor manticore (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 23

An unnamed poisonous flying manticore created as the fifth floor's boss from preserved blood samples. It occupies a circular arena filled with fog.

Richard (Supporting)

Also known as Father Richard

First appears in chapter 24

An A-rank cleric and senior defender of Mountaindale. Richard wields large-scale celestial magic against the undead assault and directs Dale to move civilians and lower-ranked fighters into the dungeon for safety.

Amber (Supporting)

Also known as High Magus Amber

First appears in chapter 24

A senior magical authority counted among Mountaindale's defenders during the undead invasion. Amber is one of the powerful local figures expected to respond while Dale organizes the evacuation of less capable residents.

High Inquisitor (Supporting)

Also known as Slayer of Shades

First appears in chapter 27

A powerful church judge whose presence makes Adam flee rather than risk scrutiny. The High Inquisitor can drain color from his surroundings, expose visible marks of wrongdoing, and destroy those his power declares guilty.

High Inquisitor's father

First appears in chapter 29

The High Inquisitor's father, accused of murder even though his son's judgment registers him as innocent. The contradiction prevents an attack and remains unresolved.

Manny (Supporting)

Also known as Fifth-floor manticore

First appears in chapter 31

The revived fifth-floor manticore after Cal gives him a name. Manny can speak, remains eager for prey, and survives as a stabilized dungeon predator after the assault that nearly killed him, with Cal supplying the power needed for his recovery.

Bob Prime (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 31

The designated spokesperson for the Bobs, carrying selected memories pooled from several of them while remaining mentally stable. Bob Prime helps Cal operate major dungeon rituals.

Chandra (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 35

An influential plant mage and politically connected defender of Mountaindale. Chandra confronts hostile lightning scouts approaching the flying settlement and has enough standing with their leaders to halt the escalation.

Perun

First appears in chapter 35

A lightning-affinity authority who recognizes Chandra and halts the scouts' confrontation with Mountaindale. Perun then takes responsibility for the scouts.

Jasper (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 35

A B-rank lightning mage of clan Asgardia who leads two brothers into Cal's dungeon. Jasper dismisses Dale's warnings after his group overwhelms the early encounters and presses toward the unfamiliar dangers below.

Odin

Also known as Jasper

First appears in chapter 36

The former lightning mage Jasper after the destruction of his home city transforms him and his surviving brothers into crow-like forms. Renaming himself Odin, he vows to locate other survivors and hunt whoever caused the catastrophe.

Master (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 37

A high-rank necromantic enemy blamed in reports for the deaths of rulers and the collapse of kingdoms. The Master appears to be directing a broad campaign of political destruction, and Chandra reacts as though he has returned from death.

Battle Tyrant Marie (Supporting)

Also known as Marie

First appears in chapter 38

Marie after Cal remakes her body and equipment following her binding oath. As Battle Tyrant Marie, she commands the forces of Cal with enhanced physical abilities, mithril armor, and essence-absorbing cores.

Cal's goblin lieutenant (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 38

Cal's B-rank death mage lieutenant, responsible for commanding the goblin units deployed in the campaign.

Grace (Minor)

First appears in chapter 43

The newly created female wisp daughter of Cal and Dani. Grace comes into being through Silverwood pollen and her parents' renewed mana bond after their reunion, marking a new addition to the dungeon's restored family.
