Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

Dale (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

A newly ascended B-rank mage whose shared soul with Cal ties his survival to the dungeon. His unusual advancement gives him greatly increased speed, strength, and senses as moonfall and the collapse of the world's essence approach.

Cal (Protagonist)

Also known as Dungeon Core

Appears from the start

The sentient dungeon operating Mountaindale and the other half of Dale's shared soul. His ley-line work is connected to the growing essence crisis, placing his survival and the defense of his dungeon under an urgent moonfall deadline.

Dani (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

Cal's dungeon wisp and close partner. She understands that wisps depend on empowered partners and warns that an extinction threat may compel her kind to return to their mysterious place of origin, despite a taboo surrounding that journey.

Grace (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 3

The young wisp regarded as the child of Cal and Dani. She is part of their close dungeon family while Cal experiments with stronger creatures and prepares defenses against dangers beyond Mountaindale.

Chandra (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 5

A decisive council voice who refuses to let the academy headmaster abandon the survival effort. She supports renewed talks with Cal and helps press the divided coalition toward a workable refuge agreement.

Brianna (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

A dark-elf representative who takes Dale's warning about diverted essence seriously when much of the council dismisses it. Her people have detected concentrated essence being abruptly redirected into new channels, and she seeks more information from Dale.

Henry (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 5

An allied ruler and council participant who backs another attempt to negotiate with Cal. He joins the coalition seeking enforceable terms that can preserve its peoples from the approaching global destruction.

Marie (Minor)

First appears in chapter 5

An allied queen who participates in the survival council and supports reopening negotiations with Cal. She is among the recognized leaders willing to pursue mass shelter within his soul space before moonfall.

Academy headmaster (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A mage teacher who identifies Dale and Cal as two beings sharing one soul. He connects Dale's early ascension to Cal's bond with a law and understands that the first moon fragments will arrive within weeks.

Tom (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 6

A Northman exile determined to save his people. Before he can advocate for their evacuation, he must survive the law surrounding his blood-fire berserker exile, regain legal standing, and possibly challenge his own brother's authority.

Minya (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 7

Cal's recruiter, who independently secures powerful mages to propel Mountaindale north. She promises prospective allies land and opportunity after entry into the refuge, showing initiative beyond the task Cal originally assigned her.

Navigation Bob (Minor)

First appears in chapter 8

Mountaindale's pilot and route-finder. When the Northmen's ward pulls the flying landmass toward danger, he obeys Cal's emergency order to reverse course.

Manny (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

Cal's manticore guardian, equipped with poisonous and acidic blood and rapid wind-driven movement. He is a lethal dungeon defender whose kills also give Cal opportunities to study the magic of fallen challengers.

Hans (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 9

Dale's companion and a member of the outside support group backing Tom's return. He accompanies Tom into the Northmen's protected capital while Tom remains an exile without restored rank or legal standing.

Rose (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 9

An archer in Dale's party who accompanies Tom into the Northmen's protected capital. She accepts the danger of acting as part of his external support group while his legal status as an exile remains unresolved.

Northmen warlord (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 9

Tom's brother and a Northmen general. He remains personally concerned for Tom but follows the law that denies an exile the standing of blood family.

Infernal dungeon (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 14

The intelligent infernal dungeon beneath the Northmen's protected crater. It possesses an extensive system of wards and agrees to exchange that knowledge with Cal under binding terms of good faith and nonaggression.

The Master (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 25

A wounded high-rank authority overseeing the untested escape portal. He imposes a strict deadline on the divided factions, warning that only rapid completion of the project can preserve their peoples.

Moon-elf trainer (Minor)

First appears in chapter 20

Dale's moon-elf instructor, who resumes intensive training once Dale reaches B-rank. He makes clear that Dale's advancement has ended the restraint applied during their earlier sessions.

Northman general (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 27

A Northman commander leading a personal campaign against trapped Amazonians. He and his squad ambush and execute them, dedicating the resulting dungeon power to Cal.

Backpack dungeon (Minor)

First appears in chapter 30

A portable dungeon carried by an armored ogre and recognized as Dani's former training companion. Although Dani demands its destruction, Cal keeps it alive long enough to hear what it has to say.

Free ogre (Minor)

First appears in chapter 30

A former dungeon boss who now acts freely while carrying a portable dungeon core. Her sentient living-metal companion can become armor, and she arrives seeking Dani on instructions connected to an earlier invasion.

Guild leader (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 31

A returning Guild authority who builds political support while the Master weakens. His growing faction threatens an abrupt transfer of power at the same time the escape portal and evacuation remain unfinished.

Bob (Minor)

First appears in chapter 34

He alerts Cal to approaching B-rank beasts deprived of essence. Threats from both sky and ocean are closing on Mountaindale, apparently attracted by its emitted power.

Odin (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 36

A transformed survivor and formidable lightning wielder who believes Cal destroyed his people. Guided by ravens that track essence, he attacks Dale in pursuit of vengeance until the Master intervenes.

Ancient northern dungeon (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 39

A vastly stronger dungeon beneath the icy northern land. It knows the enemy behind the moonfall, offers to teach Cal how to resist hostile S-rankers, and asks for rescue through a connection between their Silverwood Trees.

Guild commander (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 40

An S-rank enforcer who collars the necromancers, seizes their portal key, and assumes control of the completed migration route. He presents obedience as the price of survival and uses overwhelming power to suppress resistance.

Necromancer leader (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 40

The weakened leader of the enslaved necromancers. After centuries spent fighting for his people's freedom, he yields to the Guild commander because resisting would bring immediate death to followers trapped in control collars.

Mad S-ranker (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 48

A powerful conspirator whose planted madness helped drive Dani toward her homeland and shape the wider migration crisis. His alliance with the Guild commander places him behind the calamity now closing around Cal's refuge.

Mad S-ranker's son (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 53

The mad S-ranker's son, who turns against his father during the attempt to exploit Dale's new core form. Though severely injured in the confrontation, he intervenes directly and creates Dale's only immediate path of escape.
