The name Alison and Anne-Marie use for Miss Willcox. Their shared admiration for the English teacher also becomes a rivalry for her attention.

Angela's new name for Antoinette. Under this name, the younger girl appears eager to help while privately resisting Angela's attempt to turn her into a servant.

A teacher who objects when Alison and Anne-Marie copy Miss Willcox's appearance and manner, and firmly rebukes them for the imitation.

First appears in chapter 22

Miss Willcox's actual given name, disclosed when Anne-Marie challenges the English teacher's judgment. The girls' earlier use of Deirdre was another name associated with their imitation and devotion.
