Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.
Lindon (Protagonist)
Also known as Wei Shi Lindon
Appears from the start
Separated from his companions and cast into an ancient, decaying realm, Lindon must survive and grow on his own, relying on the resourcefulness and relentless drive that have carried him this far. Cut off from Eithan's guidance and Yerin's support, he treats the strange and dangerous place he finds himself in as an opportunity as much as a trap, seizing every chance to gain strength. Isolation forces him to stand on his own as never before.
Orthos (Supporting)
Appears from the start
The great black tortoise bound to Lindon through the Blackflame arts, trapped in the ancient realm along with him. A powerful, short-tempered ally, he shares Lindon's ordeal and lends his strength as the two work to survive and escape a place that is slowly falling apart.
Little Blue (Supporting)
Also known as Sylvan Riverseed
Appears from the start
A Sylvan Riverseed, a small elemental spirit of pure madra that has attached itself to Lindon, whom he calls Little Blue. Gentle and childlike, she can refine and purify madra, making her a quietly valuable companion. Within the ancient realm she grows and develops alongside Lindon, sharing in the ordeal as one of the small band that endures it with him.
Yerin (Protagonist)
Appears from the start
Lindon's sword-artist companion, herself caught up in the aftermath of the dreadgod's attack and pursuing her own dangerous struggles apart from him. Still recovering from the loss of her bound blood-madra inheritance, she fights to grow stronger and to reunite with Lindon, her thread running in parallel to his ordeal.
Eithan Arelius (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 3
The eccentric and immensely powerful patron of Lindon and Yerin, working amid the disaster's aftermath to recover his scattered charges and to turn the situation to advantage. Even separated from Lindon, his influence and unpredictable schemes continue to shape events, and the crisis draws out further glimpses of just how formidable he truly is.
Dross (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 7
A small, quirky spirit of pure mind and perception that Lindon encounters within the ancient realm, the remnant intelligence of something that died there. Curious and talkative, Dross bonds with Lindon and takes up residence in his spirit, dramatically sharpening his perception, memory, and ability to analyze techniques. The companionship also eases Lindon's isolation, and Dross quickly becomes one of his most valuable and distinctive assets, a mind that helps him punch above his level.
