Gods of Risk characters

By James S. A. Corey

Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

David Draper (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

A sixteen-year-old Martian in the tunnel city of Londres Nova, a gifted chemistry student competing for a place in a prestigious academic program. He is quiet, socially awkward, and has been using his skill in a school laboratory to synthesize drugs for a local dealer, an arrangement he tells himself is temporary and under control.

Bobbie Draper (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

David's aunt, a former Martian Marine gunnery sergeant staying in his family's home. She left the Marines under difficult circumstances after a catastrophe on Ganymede in which her platoon was killed, and she is now unemployed, silent about it, and running enormous distances to fill the days. The household treats her presence as a subject to be worked around.

Hutch (Antagonist)

Appears from the start

A drug dealer operating in the tunnels around Londres Nova, who supplies David with materials and takes what he produces. He is casual, familiar and generous in a way that is entirely transactional, and he is used to being the most frightening person in any conversation he has with teenagers.

Leelee (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A young woman a few years older than David who has drifted out of school and into the same circles as Hutch. David is quietly infatuated with her and has no idea how to help her, and her situation is deteriorating faster than she admits.
