In the seventh book, Jason Asano and Farrah Hurin leave Earth and travel back toward the world where Jason built his adventuring life, arriving just as a long-delayed monster surge begins and separating them from their teams. Emerging into a cyclone in the unfamiliar Storm Kingdom, they pose as ordinary adventurers to avoid drawing attention while making their way to the capital, Rimaros, to register with the Adventure Society and take part in the surge response. Officials grow suspicious of Jason's unusual history even as he tries to keep a low profile, quietly reuniting with old allies while larger political and military currents, including the looming threat of a wider Builder invasion, gather around him.
