The eighth installment finds Jason Asano's team investigating a fortress town whose defenses were sabotaged from within, uncovering signs of an organized betrayal rather than an ordinary monster breach. Their inquiry leads them toward the Order of Redeeming Light, a Purity-aligned faction using coerced conversions to strip essence users of their abilities and disguise the resulting losses as monster attacks. As Jason and his allies join a larger expedition to a fallen extradimensional city in search of hidden Builder technology, the Order's raiders strike in force, seeking to seize powerful constructs and expand their capacity to produce more of the servitors quietly hollowing out the region's defenses.
