The third Immortal Great Souls novel follows Scorio and Naomi as they leave their guide behind in the dangerous Iron Weald to chase a faint signal that might be their missing ally, Nox. Their search leads them through monster-infested tunnels and an ancient underground complex, costing them injuries and forcing Naomi to recover from an attack that temporarily disables her magic, before they take refuge in the Fury Spires, a hive-fortress controlled by the Iron Tyrant. There, Scorio and Naomi reunite with old companions who no longer remember their shared past, navigate the Iron Tyrant's transactional hospitality, and try to stay uncommitted as rival factions in a larger war against a fiend called the Blood Ox jockey for their support. Combat trials raise their standing within the hive, and their own relationship shifts as they search for a way to reach Nox.
