The eighth entry in the Mark of the Fool series begins as Alex and his allies enter the sanctum of Uldar, the deity behind Thameland's heroes, and find him dead. Searching his hidden chambers for the cause, they discover a secret laboratory linking him directly to the creation of the Ravener, the entity blamed for the land's recurring monster attacks. With his identity as the Fool no longer safe to hide, Alex tells Professor Jules the truth, gains an unlikely ally in Uldar's shaken Saint, and works to prepare Generasi against a hidden church that may already be hunting him.
