Mitosis characters
Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.
David Charleston (Protagonist)
Appears from the start
The narrator: a young Reckoner who killed the Epic Steelheart and became, without wanting it, a public figure in the city he freed. He has spent his life compiling notes on Epics and their hidden weaknesses, and that research is still the most useful thing he brings to the team. He is restless with the job of guarding a recovering city rather than hunting, still thinking about Megan, and still incapable of constructing a decent metaphor.
Mitosis (Antagonist)
Appears from the start
A High Epic who can divide himself into identical copies, each one whole and each able to divide again, which makes any conventional attack pointless. He comes to Newcago to make a name against the people who killed Steelheart, announces himself publicly and demands that Steelheart's killer face him, killing bystanders to make the demand stick.
Prof (Supporting)
Also known as Jonathan Phaedrus
Appears from the start
The leader of the Reckoners, now effectively running Newcago rather than operating in secret within it. He plans carefully, dislikes improvisation, and supplies the team's equipment without explaining where it comes from.
Tia (Supporting)
Appears from the start
The Reckoners' intelligence specialist, keeper of the team's files on Epic sightings and powers, and the person who has to work out what the team is facing before anyone can act on it.
Abraham (Supporting)
Appears from the start
The team's weapons and demolitions specialist, calm under pressure, and one of the Faithful, who expect an Epic to appear one day who protects people instead of ruling them.
Cody (Supporting)
Appears from the start
The team's sniper, a Tennessean with an elaborate and entirely unverifiable claim to Scottish ancestry, who talks continuously and shoots accurately.
