Amanda Prynne (Protagonist)

Elyot's first wife, now on honeymoon with Victor in the same hotel. Independent and quick-witted, she has spent years traveling since her divorce and is reluctant to give Victor a simple account of her former marriage.
Sibyl Chase (Supporting)

Elyot's young second wife, newly married and anxious about comparisons with Amanda. She presses Elyot for reassurance that his first wife no longer matters to him.
Victor Prynne (Supporting)
Appears from the start
Amanda's dependable second husband, who has brought her to France for their honeymoon. Conventional and protective, he wants a clear explanation of Amanda's history with Elyot and believes the former marriage is safely over.
Louise (Minor)
