The witch bound to the Bennett pack and the owner of the garage in Green Creek. His magic lives in the tattoos that cover his arms, and the raven on his forearm moves when the power does. He is blunt, guarded and slow to forgive, having spent most of his adult life refusing to want anything from the family that once left him behind. He now serves Ox and Joe as their witch and keeps the town's wards standing.

Thomas Bennett's younger brother, quiet and patient, who has waited years for Gordo to stop shutting him out. He and Gordo were together when they were young, before the pack left Green Creek, and neither of them has managed to be anything else since.

One of the two alphas of the Bennett pack, and the man Gordo hired at his garage as a teenager. Steady, unhurried and impossible to intimidate, he holds the pack together by being exactly what he appears to be.

Thomas Bennett's youngest son, alpha alongside his mate Ox. He is young for the power he carries, still marked by the years he spent hunting the wolf who killed his father, and determined never to leave his pack again.

Widow of the Bennett alpha and mother of Carter, Kelly and Joe. She has buried a husband and held a house full of grieving people together, and her gentleness is not the same thing as fragility.

A young wolf originally sent to Green Creek by the wolf leadership, now a member of the Bennett pack. Warm, talkative and eager to please, he still serves as the pack's point of contact with the authority in Caswell, a divided loyalty nobody is entirely comfortable with.

A human member of the Bennett pack and Chris's sister, who has decided that if she is going to live among wolves she will learn to fight beside them rather than be shielded.

Gordo's father and, long ago, the witch bound to the Bennett pack. He wanted more power than a witch is meant to hold; the Bennett alpha stripped his magic from him and cast him out when Gordo was a teenager, and Gordo grew up believing that was the end of him. He is alive, and he is carrying something no witch should be able to carry.

The alpha of all wolves, governing from Caswell, Maine. She took the position after the corruption at the heart of the old leadership was exposed, and her dealings with the Bennett pack are correct, distant and rarely generous.

The Bennett alpha, dead before this book opens, who appears throughout Gordo's memory: the man who took him in as a boy, made him the pack's witch at seventeen, and then moved the pack away and left him behind in Green Creek.

The alpha without a pack who killed Thomas Bennett and was killed in turn. He is prior-book knowledge here, appearing in the chapters that look back at the three years Gordo, Joe, Carter and Kelly spent hunting him across the country.
