Return of the Runebound Professor

By Actus

After dying at twenty-six, Noah Vines is selected for reincarnation, but a violent, unexplained attack during the process leaves him waking inside the freshly dead body of Magus Vermil, a disgraced professor at the magic academy Arbitage. Retaining his own memories and gaining fragments of Vermil's, Noah discovers he can return from death anchored to a strange gourd, a power he keeps hidden while posing as Vermil under the cover of memory loss. Assigned to teach two students, Isabel and Todd, who expect the corrupt arrangement Vermil once offered them, Noah instead commits to training them honestly for an examination that requires killing a dangerous monster. As he studies Vermil's runes, including an unusually large and unidentified one, he works to master magic from first principles while concealing his identity from colleagues who despise the man he appears to be.
