Hunted by the Animal Kingdom, Jack Rust and Brock escape into space, lose Captain Dordok to their pursuers, and reach Trial Planet with the uneasy help of Gan Salin. They befriend Nauja, uncover an ancient complex, and grow through the planet's successive rings while Earth sinks into war between the Brotherhood-Flame River alliance and Ice Peak. Jack defeats Bocor, survives alliances with Longsword and the three lords, claims the Dao Sprouting Pill, frees an Echidna Devil to escape, and seals himself in a cultivation chamber. After the numbered chapters, he escapes, conquers Trial Planet's final guardian, forms the Dao of Jack Rust, and survives an abnormal tribulation to become D-grade. Old Man Spirit sends Jack and Brock toward Exploding Sun. Jack then kills the Animal Kingdom hunters who report Dordok's death and openly declares war. Meanwhile, Alexander becomes E-grade with Animal Kingdom backing and challenges Edgar to an unresolved death duel on Earth.

Previously: Earth entered the Immortal System and Jack Rust rose as an unusual fist cultivator, gathering allies through the Bare Fist Brotherhood. He formed a close spiritual bond with Brock, the young son of Harambe, and came into conflict with the Animal Kingdom during the planetary tournament. Jack killed Rufus, grandson of Earth's Animal Kingdom overseer Galicia Lonahor, making himself the target of a powerful off-world faction. Professor Margaret Rust remained responsible for the Brotherhood's organization, while Vivi led Flame River and Alexander Petrovic led the rival Ice Peak faction. The tournament left Earth's alliances divided and its strongest factions competing for dungeons, recruits, and control. Jack and Brock disappeared from Earth's reach after the confrontation, with Jack still short of the strength needed to oppose the powers threatening his world. A route through the Balerian Outpost to Trial Planet offered him a dangerous chance to advance before Earth's grace period ended.

Galicia Lonahor answers Rufus's death by placing a galaxy-wide bounty on Jack, while Professor Margaret Rust fortifies the Brotherhood amid Earth's worsening division between Ice Peak and the Brotherhood-Flame River alliance. Jack awakens badly injured in Pearl Bay with Brock and realizes that returning home would expose both of them. With little money and Animal Kingdom hunters searching nearby worlds, they need passage toward the Balerian Outpost and Trial Planet. Jack uses the name Jared and secures work aboard Captain Dordok's Trampling Ram after proving his combat ability. The crew includes several seasoned fighters and a Sephira passenger who notices the weakness in Jack's assumed identity but does not expose him. As the ship leaves Pearl Bay, Gan Salin is being forced to help Animal Kingdom hounds follow Jack's trail. Jack and Brock are now moving toward their only known path to greater strength, but their pursuers have learned where they began their flight.

During the voyage, Jack studies the problem of fusing Dao roots and gains experience fighting in open space. A monster horde led by a D-grade creature attacks the Trampling Ram. Jack risks severe injury to save a crew member, earning the crew's trust and revealing that he is Jack Rust rather than Jared. Dordok and his people agree to shelter him within the limits of their strength. Animal Kingdom hounds intercept the ship near Amethyst Mountain, and Dordok fights them while Jack and Brock escape in a shuttle. Gan Salin joins the shuttle, claiming that he wants Jack's spare Trial Planet token and can help them flee. He stages Jack's recapture, gets the group through a planetary teleporter, and takes them into a Hand of God transit route. Behind them, Dordok is captured, one surrendering crew member is killed, and the surviving Trampling Ram crew escapes. Jack, Brock, and Gan Salin reach the route to Trial Planet, but Dordok's fate remains in enemy hands.

Jack, Brock, and Gan Salin register at Trial Planet, a world arranged as nested rings with greater danger and reward toward its center. Entry separates Gan Salin from the spiritually linked pair. In the Giant Ring, Jack and Brock find a vast forest dominated by oversized insects. Jack stays to train, allowing Brock to face real combat and begin proving himself as a warrior. Their hunts raise Jack's level, but stronger cultivators and giant predators show how far he still has to climb. While recovering from one escape, Jack accidentally forms the Dao Root of Power, complicating his future path. He and Brock disguise themselves with ant remains and infiltrate the colony that guards the route downward. They take a carved Staff of Stone, fight the broodmother, and become surrounded. Jack unlocks Brutalizing Aura, using fear to stop weaker enemies, then destroys the blocked passage and escapes with Brock. The pair descend toward the next ring with a new weapon for Brock and another major advance for Jack.

In the Barbarian Ring, Jack and Brock meet Nauja, a Tri-Lake hunter who distrusts off-world Delvers. She accepts their intentions and brings them to her tribe, where her father warns Jack not to trust the System and assigns the three a dangerous hunt. Jack and Nauja kill a level-121 Tyrannosaurus, satisfying the ring's advancement condition. During recovery, Jack absorbs his Dao Soul and discovers an inner training space containing a copy of himself. Sparring there helps him fuse Indomitable Will into his Dao seed and strengthen his body. Nauja also reveals that her people claim descent from the Ancients connected to the System's origin. Before the group can separate peacefully, Bocor arrives with an Animal Kingdom bounty party. Nauja pretends to abandon Jack, then kills one pursuer and helps him escape. Jack, Brock, and Nauja flee through fire into the Forbidden Cave, with Bocor and the surviving hunters close behind.

The fugitives survive a fall deep beneath the Forbidden Cave and discover an ancient sealed complex. Nauja identifies images of the Ancients, the Old Ones, Enos, and Axelor from her people's traditions. The facility recognizes her ancient blood and warns them not to scan its contents. Jack activates an Enos shrine and is drawn into five trials testing will, thought, body, combat, and acceptance of a divine gift. He survives overwhelming constructed enemies, is restored from catastrophic wounds, and endures the final gift's integration. The reward is a concealed life drop that grants a far stronger four-armed form. Jack tells Brock and Nauja despite being instructed to hide it. When ancient material is scanned, the System triggers an extermination response and alerts the Hand of God, which begins searching Trial Planet for remnants and plans to scan everyone leaving. Unable to return to her tribe through the sealed route, Nauja commits to continuing with Jack and Brock toward the Village Ring.

Crossing the Village Ring's desert, Jack uses the life drop to kill a peak E-grade predator and confirms the scale of his new power. At the oasis village, the group finds Gan Salin imprisoned by Bocor for abandoning the Animal Kingdom hunters. They free him, but the rescue becomes violent and brings Longsword's party after them. Longsword easily defeats Jack and offers faction protection that would save only a few people while condemning Nauja and Gan Salin. Jack instead wagers the group's freedom on a duel with Bocor. Despite the level gap and Bocor's armor and shield, Jack targets the exposed face, uses Brutalizing Aura for an opening, and wins. Longsword honors the agreement, releases the group, and offers Jack a place on his team. Jack refuses. The four companions enter the Space Ring ahead of their enemies, knowing Longsword's protection has ended and that the Garden Assault will eventually force the planet's strongest cultivators together.

The Space Ring consists of isolated biome bubbles floating in a dangerous void. Jack's group moves toward its dark interior to find an inheritance suited to Brock's Staff of Stone. Jack reveals the life drop while rescuing Gan Salin and fighting an elite electric eel, and the group reaches an ancient palace connected to the staff's Dao of Density. Brock completes its trial, gains a major physical enhancement, and secures the inheritance required for the next title. A D-grade monster then drives a vast horde through the darkness, but the Sage, Dorman Whistles, and Poppy find the group and guide them out. The Sage invites Jack to the Black Hole Church and claims it seeks to oppose the Immortal System and free Enos, though Jack has no way to verify the account. Jack declines immediate membership but agrees to investigate. Trusting the Sage's prediction of better opportunities ahead, Jack's party leaves Space Ring for the Labyrinth Ring.

The Labyrinth separates Jack from Brock despite their spiritual bond. Jack searches toward the guardian and accepts a temporary alliance with Longsword and Bocor for protection while looking for his friends. Nauja and Gan Salin remain together and find an archery trial, while Brock is isolated among monsters and short of supplies. On Earth, pressure from Vivi helps Edgar complete an E-grade breakthrough, making him the planet's first E-grade cultivator. He agrees to use his peaceful Dao of Magic offensively once against Ice Peak. In the Labyrinth, Longsword explains that advancement to D-grade requires forming a coherent Dao tree. Jack, Longsword, and Bocor enter a treasure trial together. Jack secretly replaces its prominent gray orb with a worthless pebble, and Longsword gives him the pebble without realizing the real prize is hidden. The uneasy trio reaches the Guardian's Gates, while Brock's crisis has pushed him toward defining an independent path built around strength and responsibility to others.

Nauja earns the foundation of Sun-Piercing Arrow and reunites with Brock, who has turned his new sense of Brohood into leadership of a large crab force. Brock, Nauja, and Gan Salin reach the Guardian's Gates and rejoin Jack. Representatives of Exploding Sun offer cooperation, while the Hand of God presence reminds Jack that its faction abandoned him after Earth's tournament. The gathered factions fight the Bone King, a D-grade guardian. The three lords bear the main burden, but Jack and the other cultivators join once it is wounded. Longsword delivers the killing blow, and Jack's group earns the Seventh Ring Conqueror title before entering Garden Ring. Jack finally inspects the orb he stole and learns it is a reusable peak-E-grade explosive treasure.

Jack joins the three lord-led teams entering Trial Garden. Lady Priya says Exploding Sun still wants him, but cannot promise protection for Earth without approval from higher authorities. Hand of God starships and deep-scanning equipment surround Trial Planet, increasing the danger that Jack's life drop will be discovered. The assault crosses lethal formations, with treasure hunters such as Jack forced to test routes for the stronger factions. The Sage, Dorman, and Poppy rejoin the expedition and expose a false treasure as an imprisoned Echidna Devil. The group refuses its offers and leaves it bound. After further traps and casualties, the expedition reaches the core, where seven formations protect the Dao Sprouting Pill. Elsewhere on Earth, Edgar's breakthrough enables the alliance to prepare a major action against Ice Peak.

At Trial Garden's core, Jack fuses the Dao Root of Power and trades his frost treasure to the Sage for condensed experience. When the last formation falls, Jack uses it to jump from level 100 to 124 and enters the lords' battle as their peer. He conceals his strength until an opening appears, defeats Lady Priya's golden companion, incapacitates Longsword with the explosive orb, and takes the Dao Sprouting Pill. Longsword and the Hand of God leader invoke faction rules to condemn him, while Lady Priya cannot claim him because Exploding Sun already has a lord in the contest. Jack breaks through the encirclement and flees. Pursued through the garden, he frees the Echidna Devil in exchange for immediate help and a promise not to harm him or those close to him. The devil kills or wounds several pursuers and departs, leaving Longsword and the Hand of God force to resume the chase.

Jack reaches the ancient cultivation cave while exhausted and still carrying the Dao Sprouting Pill. The Sage admits to his companions that he helped Jack obtain the pill because he values Jack's future friendship more than the treasure, but Jack's decision to free the Echidna Devil fell outside his predictions. The Sage, Dorman, and Poppy pursue the devil instead of joining the fight. At the cave entrance, Jack wounds more of the Hand of God leader's beasts and defeats Longsword for a second time, gaining a narrow advantage from his new title. He then uses the familiar ticklish pebble to disrupt Longsword's final attempt. With the remaining pursuers closing in, Jack pulls the cave lever and seals the entrance. The numbered story ends with Jack trapped inside the ancient chamber, holding the pill and committed to attempting a D-grade breakthrough because the sealed refuge offers no immediate way out.

After the numbered story closes with Jack sealed inside an ancient cultivation chamber, he survives a month of isolation, adds Weakness as a fourth Dao root, and escapes. He defeats Trial Planet's final guardian, then uses the Thousand Essence Flower to form the Dao of Jack Rust. An abnormal tribulation nearly destroys him, but he completes his D-grade breakthrough as a Cosmic Fist immortal, raising the Bare Fist Brotherhood to D-grade. Old Man Spirit helps Jack and Brock evade the Hand of God blockade and sends them toward Exploding Sun. Animal Kingdom hunters intercept them and reveal that Captain Dordok was killed. Jack kills the hunters and declares war on the Animal Kingdom. Gan Salin chooses loyalty to his friends and intends to return to Earth, while Nauja leaves her tribe to seek a wider life. On Earth, Alexander accepts Animal Kingdom support, becomes E-grade, and challenges Edgar to a death duel. Edgar accepts, leaving the duel, Earth's protection, the Exploding Sun commitment, and the larger war unresolved.
