Jack Rust emerges from a hidden realm and fights through the Hand of God's conquered territory to reach Earth. Artis Emberheart kidnaps and kills Jack's son Eric, cracking Jack's Dao and driving him into the Animal Abyss, which leads to the sealed Black Hole World. Jack repairs himself, promises to free its stranded people, and returns to wage war on the Animal Kingdom. He defeats its ancestors and Eva Solvig, while Brock stops him from killing Emberheart civilians. Artis is sealed and abandoned alive, and the survivors renounce their family name. After mourning Eric with Vivi and Abel, Jack leaves Earth for the Second Crusade. Brock reaches B-grade with an 8,800-mile inner world. Jack discovers freedom as a tenth Dao fruit, forms a 10,000-mile inner world, and survives heavenly tribulation with Brock and Boatman's help. As the Church prepares for war, immortal and anti-immortal armies mobilize and eleven old gods approach system space.

Previously: Jack Rust, also known as Lionel Horseman, became an Earth cultivator and a disciple of the Black Hole Church. Brock became his spiritually linked brorilla brother, while Min Ling, Gan Salin, and Nauja were among his trusted allies. Jack's enemies included Artis Emberheart and the wider Emberheart line. Jack left Earth and spent years away in a hidden realm, while his partner Vivi raised their children, Abel and Eric. The route home remained difficult, and the safety of Jack's family continued to guide his choices.

Jack, Brock, and Min Ling leave the hidden realm in disguise and reach Vengalo, where Gan Salin and Nauja recognize them. The reunited travellers learn that the Hand of God has captured the Black Hole Church Cathedral, scattered the Exploding Sun, and begun a purge directed in the Milky Way by Artis Emberheart. Min Ling departs to check on her people, while Nauja helps the others seize a Falling Star teleporter. Jack and Brock defeat the defenders, and the group escapes into the Milky Way, exposing Jack's return. Earth remains hidden and mobile, and Jack cannot contact it without one of the few people who knows its frequency. The group searches the ruined Exploding Sun headquarters for Jack's missing former master. Brock, Gan Salin, and Nauja destroy the Hand of God outpost occupying the site, but Jack finds only a cryptic clue. Artis and a late B-grade Hand commander arrive too late to catch them, leaving the group without a confirmed route home and under a widening hunt.

The clue sends Jack's group toward a meteor near Hell. On the way, Jack studies the Animal Abyss and learns how to bypass part of its vast formation. The meteor proves to be an Animal Kingdom trap. Jack separates from the Bromobile so Brock, Gan Salin, and Nauja can escape, then flees an early B-grade ancestor and a late B-grade Hand envoy. He enters the Animal Abyss, but Artis appears outside with Eric as a hostage. An earlier attack on Earth had been repelled by Dorman Whistles and a hidden Church elder, so Artis kidnapped Jack's five-year-old son instead. Jack exits the Abyss and submits to restraint in exchange for Eric's life. Artis kills Eric anyway. The failure to protect his child cracks Jack's Fist Dao. Jack burns through his reserves to break the envoy's domain but cannot win. Determined to survive and take revenge, he enters one of the black whirlpools roaming within the Abyss, leaving his enemies unable to follow.

Jack's connection to Brock and Boatman disappears when he enters the black hole, and both allies and enemies conclude that he died. Brock turns his grief into a campaign against Animal Kingdom slavers. Jack is actually alive inside Black Hole World, an ancient sealed refuge created by Archon Black Hole for his descendants. Mia finds and nurses him, but Eric's death and the crack in his Dao tree have reduced his power and may prevent further advancement. The peaceful inhabitants cannot leave because their space-time experts vanished long ago. Jack explores their layered world and identifies its central vortex as the true core of the Animal Abyss. The core is slowly failing, although collapse may still be far away. Jack may eventually be able to open a passage through it, but he must first repair his Dao. His family and responsibilities give him reasons to survive, while his desire for revenge remains unresolved. Outside, Brock leads the Dark Ram against Animal Kingdom operations and rescues prisoners from a slaving ship.

Jack studies grief, death, and space-time within Black Hole World. On Earth, Vivi succeeds the Professor as leader and strengthens its defenses while raising Abel. Jack realizes that his Dao failed because it did not account for those depending on his protection. He accepts his mistake, forgives himself, and repairs the cracked tree, although he channels his remaining grief into revenge. Jack learns to detach the artifact linking Black Hole World to the Animal Abyss and promises the stranded descendants that he will return when he can free them safely. Archon Black Hole's record reveals that their refuge was created during the Immortal Crusade. Jack departs with the portal artifact and emerges beside Muir Emberheart, the Animal Kingdom's middle B-grade guardian. Despite remaining C-grade, Jack kills Muir and removes the Abyss from its former location. His soul connection with Brock returns. They reunite after a year apart, and Jack explains Eric's murder, his recovery, and the hidden world. Brock, Gan Salin, Nauja, and the mobile crew commit to supporting his war against the Animal Kingdom, though they worry about the direction of his grief.

Jack's crew secretly kills Animal Kingdom enforcers, then destroys the Earthen Gemini mine. Eva Solvig confirms that Jack survived and gathers the kingdom's forces under Hand of God protection. Jack forms a Revenge fruit, while Brock warns that collective punishment would turn grief into murder. At Crown Meteor Outpost, Jack discovers human experimentation, kills its early B-grade commander, saves the prisoners, and publicly declares war on both enemy factions. The Animal Kingdom awakens two preserved founders. Meanwhile, Sovereign Heavenly Spoon leads a Black Hole Church strike team, including Min Ling and the Sage, toward the Milky Way on Boatman's orders. Jack forms a Brotherhood fruit after recognizing Brock as the person who keeps him from losing his way. A raid on Hell draws out the revived Lonahar supreme ancestor. The founder traps Jack in a prolonged late B-grade battle with twelve intelligent phantoms, but Jack imprisons the phantoms, forces a direct fight, and kills the ancestor with a final physical strike. Brock retrieves the badly injured Jack, and the Dark Ram escapes moments before Eva can stop them.

With a Church pickup approaching, Jack forms a Time fruit and attacks Animal Planet. Brock channels support from across the galaxy into him while the confrontation is broadcast. Jack kills the Animal Kingdom's entire elder corps, its remaining ancestors and founders, a Hand combatant, and Eva Solvig. Brock captures Artis, permanently seals his body, soul, and Dao, and prevents his suicide. Jack exiles Artis alive into intergalactic emptiness. Jack then tries to destroy the moon holding Emberheart civilians, but Brock blocks the attack. Gan Salin, Nauja, and the other companions join Brock, and Jack accepts that the massacre would serve his grief rather than Eric. He spares the lineage if it abandons its surname, and the survivors become Open Chest. After freeing prisoners, Jack uses an alternate teleporter route to reach Earth. He reunites with Vivi and Abel, visits his retired mother Margaret, and spends an extended month with his family through time manipulation. They bury an empty casket for Eric. When Min Ling, the Sage, Sovereign Heavenly Spoon, and the Church party arrive, Jack leaves Earth with Brock and Dorman Whistles to join the Second Crusade.

On the journey to the Black Hole Church's hidden refuge, Jack reshapes Revenge into a fruit of discipline and justice, then forms Protection as his ninth fruit. He and Brock reach peak C-grade and meet Boatman, who accepts Brock as another disciple. Leteria guides both men to a secluded asteroid, where Boatman and Elder Heavenstar oversee their public B-grade breakthroughs. Jack destroys his Dao foundation but realizes the standard nine-fruit structure lacks a final principle. He forces a tenth fruit into existence and identifies it as Freedom. Brock forms an 8,800-mile inner world, marking him as a potential future Archon. Jack's flawless ten-fruit system grows to the universe's 10,000-mile limit, making him B-grade and giving him the Paragon of Cultivation class. A heavenly tribulation immediately attacks him and changes local laws to nullify his techniques. Brock enters the storm to restore him, accepting a matching attack. Boatman intervenes to shield both disciples and weakens the tribulation. Jack destroys its final dragon and the remaining storm with Supernova, surviving the punishment for his unprecedented breakthrough.

Jack survives the heavenly tribulation as a B-grade cultivator with a 10,000-mile inner world, while Brock stands beside him with an 8,800-mile world and Boatman remains their protector. Their immediate breakthroughs end in victory, but the wider war is only expanding. Eleven returning old gods are travelling toward system space and will arrive in years. The robotic Heaven Immortal orders most forces withdrawn from system galaxies while experience gains are raised and dungeon monsters are released. The purpose is to turn widespread slaughter into a larger army. On the opposing side, an unnamed queen rallies C-grade soldiers, B-grade commanders, and A-grade generals against the immortals and their System. Her forces enter the coming conflict under the cause of freedom and justice. Jack and the weakened Black Hole Church therefore face a struggle that now reaches far beyond the defeated Animal Kingdom and the Hand of God's Milky Way branch.

Jack ends the Animal Kingdom war by destroying its elder corps, killing Eva Solvig and the surviving founders, and leaving Artis Emberheart permanently sealed in intergalactic emptiness. Brock, Gan Salin, Nauja, and their companions stop Jack from extending his vengeance to civilians. The surviving Emberheart family abandons its name and becomes Open Chest. Jack returns to Earth, reunites with Vivi and Abel, buries an empty casket for Eric, and says goodbye before departing with Brock and Dorman Whistles. Min Ling, the Sage, and Sovereign Heavenly Spoon carry them toward the Black Hole Church's hidden forces. Brock becomes B-grade with an 8,800-mile inner world. Jack's freedom-based tenth fruit helps him advance to B-grade and expand his inner world to 10,000 miles, after which he survives heavenly tribulation with Brock and Boatman's intervention. Earth remains vulnerable, Black Hole World's people still await rescue, and Copy Jack and the sentient stone remain unexplained. The Heaven Immortal prepares mass slaughter while an anti-immortal queen mobilizes an opposing army and eleven old gods move toward system space.
