Ruthless

By Dakota Krout

The fifth entry in the series follows Joe as his secret Ritualist abilities keep the Wanderers guild running behind the scenes, even as a friend warns him that quietly solving every problem is making the guild dependent on him and deepening his intimidating reputation. When Aten orders him to pursue his next class specialization and scout a foothold in the unexplored next zone, Joe discovers a hidden discipline of ritual alchemy through a self-harm-themed dungeon trial, then seeks out a difficult teacher willing to instruct him in exchange for the guild's cooperation. Balancing this new training against mounting external pressure, including a bomb attack claiming ties to a rival faction, a leaked guild location, and a probing assault on the settlement, Joe works to expand the Wanderers' defenses while quietly advancing toward a crossing into the next zone that no one has yet survived.
