Captain of the Phoenix and leader of Omega Force. Deetz's public demand for him during the attack on Earth confronts Jason with a threat to his former home and the people he knows there.

Taryn Brown (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Jason's trusted contact on Earth and the only person with his private email address. She sends him messages while alien ships threaten the planet.

Deetz (Antagonist)

Appears from the start

A hostile synth from Jason's past who seizes Earth's broadcasts during an attack by three alien ships. He announces that Jason is the visitors' target and uses the threat to the planet to force a response.

Lucky (Supporting)

Commander of the Diligent, one of Crisstof Dalton's ships. She receives Jason's warning about the assault on Earth, agrees to inform Crisstof, and becomes the nearest potential source of outside assistance.

Ed Brown (Minor)

Taryn's father. After the attack exposes his family's connection to Jason and draws armed attention to their home, Ed is evacuated from Earth aboard the Phoenix with Taryn and Jess.

Jess Brown (Minor)

Taryn's mother. She leaves Earth aboard the Phoenix with Taryn and Ed when hostile locals converge on their home after Jason's connection to the family becomes dangerous.

De'Tarioas Mal (Minor)

First appears in chapter 10

A'arcoon's Vice Chancellor of Economic Affairs, encountered through a preserved historical recording. His account documents the planet's fall and leaves an archive that may explain the enemy ships and their origins.

De'Astor Ka (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 10

The historical leader of an A'arcooni cult opposed to industrial civilization. He led his followers in seizing six advanced ships from alien reformers and turning those vessels against A'arcoon.

Captured Traveler officer (Minor)

First appears in chapter 11

An A'arcooni officer captured when Omega Force boards a failing Traveler ship. He survives while the other defenders choose death over capture, leaving Jason with a living prisoner from the damaged ship and a possible route to answers.

De'Elefor Ka (Supporting)

Also known as Deliverer, First Sub-Commander of Penance

First appears in chapter 13

The captured Traveler officer, now identified as Penance's First Sub-Commander. After confronting evidence against his inherited history, he agrees to guide the Phoenix to the last Traveler ship under a promise that Jason will avoid attacking unless forced to defend the crew.

Ta'Arlek Ka (Antagonist)

Also known as Supreme Commander

First appears in chapter 14

Supreme Commander of the last active Traveler ship. He blocks De'Elefor Ka's attempt to communicate and attacks the Phoenix with the ship's main weapon and antimatter missiles supplied by Deetz.

Two unnamed Korkaran mercenaries (Antagonist)

Also known as Deetz's bodyguards

First appears in chapter 14

Two reptilian mercenary warriors who break Deetz out of confinement after the Traveler surrender. Their strength, speed, and history of violence make them a serious threat, and Crusher recognizes their kind from earlier conflicts.
