In short (whole book)

Derek Hunt settles his companions in Savannah, earns Onyx rank, and turns a leased lot into a shared home, forge, shop, and contract business. Roman begins training Brandi and partners with Derek on permanent-stat potions made from void-beast materials. Jacks trains Rayna to level 100 and reconciles with his son Jake after surviving an ambush. Derek then spends two weeks mastering the Golem Dungeon, reaches level 171, and discovers both an unexplained stat-cap anomaly and the severe human cost of Time Prison. As the Crown prepares a dangerous time-distorted raid, Natalie Savannah and King Edwin move against Gerald Torith. Gerald escapes through a hidden network and ambushes Edward's detention force. Avery holds the attackers until Derek and Edgar arrive. Edward survives with restored arms, and Gerald, Clifford Arden, Vanessa Hodges, and an unidentified plant user are captured in Time Prison and taken to Savannah, leaving Gerald's wider conspiracy and the coming raid unresolved.

Previously, in earlier books (earlier books)

Previously: Derek Hunt leads a group that includes Silvi, Jacks, Rudy, Rayna West, Brandi Fields, Malorie, and Thomas Stewart. He has commercial ties to the Crown through Alanah Swan and Stella Brighton. Conflict with House Torith remains active. Clay Torith is already Derek's prisoner, and Derek's companions have previously suffered retaliation connected to the house. Derek also possesses void-based abilities and has an arrangement involving valuable void beasts. As the group enters a new stage of its journey, its immediate priorities are safety, stable work, and a defensible home.

Story so far - through chapter 10 (this book)

Derek and eight companions enter Savannah, where Stella Brighton places them in temporary rooms at the Crown Hotel. Derek leases a vacant commercial lot for a combined residence, workshop, store, and contract service. Jacks, newly free of House Torith, writes to the adult son he kept distant while bound to the house. Coffee and stimulant revenue from the Crown gives Derek enough money to begin building plans and open a local bank account. Thomas independently visits the Adventurer's Guild and impresses Guildmaster Shae, an Onyx-ranked spear expert who offers him demanding instruction ahead of academy enrollment. Derek then seeks his own promotion from Gold to Onyx. His aura overwhelms the Guild's testing equipment, bringing Shae into the assessment. Their spar reveals Derek's exceptional durability, healing, lightning, and unusual movement. Shae agrees to keep Derek's abilities confidential, judges him qualified for Onyx, and learns Derek's account of killing Gerald Torith's son after an admission connected to child trafficking. Derek lacks proof of the wider operation, but his rank assessment is complete.

Story so far - through chapter 19 (this book)

Derek receives his Onyx badge and meets Sabrina Elris, an Indrian dignitary with whom he has unresolved hostility. Shae introduces him to Roman, a halfling alchemist whose bar supports his experimental work. Derek agrees to test unknown potions in exchange for Roman giving Brandi serious alchemy instruction. Meanwhile, Derek defines roles for his Savannah household: Rudy will handle contracts, Brandi will develop her crafts, Malorie will support the home and business, Jacks will guard and train Rayna, and Thomas will continue with Shae. Derek selects building materials and solicits rapid construction bids. Jeffrey of Alabaster Homes offers to build at material cost because cultivating goodwill with an Onyx adventurer is valuable, and Rudy completes the contract. At Roman's shop, Brandi begins basic potion work. Derek survives three dangerous experimental brews: one causes catastrophic internal injury, another produces temporary petrification, and the last permanently raises four physical attributes. Roman indicates that the successful potion used void-beast material, creating the basis for a larger partnership.

Story so far - through chapter 28 (this book)

Derek and Roman agree to produce permanent physical-stat potions from Derek's expected void-beast materials, with Derek receiving the strongest results and sharing profits from the rest. Jacks takes Rayna through severe accelerated training meant to replace her dependence on rescue with practical survival ability. Jeffrey finishes Derek's two-story shop-home, including Brandi's forge, Rudy's contract space, living quarters, and a large kitchen, then partners with Derek on a rune-powered shower design. At court, Alanah Swan announces the Crown's coming void-beast auctions and challenges Gerald Torith's accusations against Derek. King Edwin agrees to investigate after hearing about the kidnapping of Brandi and Malorie. Jake Herrett arrives with Edgar after receiving Jacks's letter, but Rayna soon reports that Jacks has been ambushed outside Savannah. Derek, Edgar, and Jake rescue him and capture twelve half-elf attackers. Questioning shows that the attackers acted on their own in hopes of pleasing Sabrina Elris, not on proven orders from her. Jacks and Jake reconcile. Jacks shares his unproven belief that House Torith engineered Jake's childhood abduction and his wife's murder to bind him, and father and son agree that the house must eventually face accountability.

Story so far - through chapter 39 (this book)

Rayna reaches level 100 and upgrades into Zephyr's Fury, an epic ranged wind-swordsman class, then earns a Gold Guild badge. Malorie takes charge of the shop, Roman receives void-beast ingredients for his potion work, and the Crown considers auctioning the first Potion of Physical Permanence. Derek leaves alone for the level-170 Golem Dungeon. Elsewhere, an unstable level-250 raid dungeon with extreme time distortion forces the royal family to choose Edgar to lead a twenty-five-person expedition. Derek repeatedly clears elemental golem encounters, using their attacks for resistance training and learning how to preserve valuable mana cores. He completes the dungeon, re-enters for an intensive two-week training block, and accumulates levels and skill improvements. The Crown combines its auctions into one large Savannah event before the raid, and Stella confirms that Roman's potion grants permanent physical gains. Edgar is rapidly raised toward level 250 while insisting on selecting a capable, trusted expedition team. By the end of Derek's training block, he has reached level 165 and raised endurance and vitality to the apparent system cap of 1,500. Five additional points in each disappear behind question marks, leaving their effect unknown.

Story so far - through chapter 47 (this book)

Derek gathers more than thirty Void Beast carcasses and tests Time Prison inside the Golem Dungeon. Clay Torith completes an accelerated sentence but emerges terrified of renewed confinement and deliberately enters a golem's fatal attack. Derek concludes that the prison can rapidly destroy a human captive's will and restricts its acceptable use to the gravest cases. Edgar reaches level 250 with a concealed wisdom-based legendary class and begins choosing volunteers for the time-distorted raid. Derek finishes training at level 171 and returns to Savannah. Brandi has reached level 27, gained an epic class, and expanded her crafting skills, while Malorie supervises her safety. Derek finally meets Alanah in person, demonstrates resistance to her abilities, and discloses his void powers and large stockpile. The Crown accepts most of his Void Beast bodies, offers confidential support for Brandi, and explains that his excess stat points lie beyond the system's calculable cap. At a pre-auction dinner, Natalie Savannah verifies Derek's account against Gerald. She bars Gerald's immediate family from Savannah trade and entry, while King Edwin resolves to imprison him. The move comes too late for an immediate arrest because Gerald has already left the palace.

Story so far - through chapter 53 (this book)

Gerald meets Indrian contacts at a hidden warehouse where people are held in cages. He has concealed teleportation routes, an informant among the selected raid force, and a plan to seize control of Sidaria. Although Natalie offers to hold him in Savannah and investigate his oaths and network, Gerald evades the first attempt to detain him. Edward returns to the capital to make the arrest, only to be ambushed by Gerald, Clifford Arden, an unidentified half-elf plant user, and shadow specialist Vanessa Hodges. Guards are killed, Edward loses both arms, and Avery Swan intervenes alone to prevent the attackers from escaping. Alanah sends Derek and Edgar through a private teleportation circle as reinforcements. They breach Vanessa's shadow barrier after Avery has exhausted much of his stamina holding the group. Derek incapacitates Gerald and confines him in Time Prison, then defeats Clifford without killing him. Avery overcomes the plant user, rescues one surviving guard, and helps Edward recover and reattach his arms. Edgar defeats Vanessa and takes her apparent storage devices. Gerald, Clifford, Vanessa, and the plant user are all placed in Time Prison, and the victors return to Savannah with the prisoners. Gerald's broader network and the impending time-distorted raid remain open threats.

How does it end? (ending)

Derek's household is established in its Savannah shop-home: Brandi crafts with Crown support, Malorie manages the business, Rudy handles contracts, Thomas prepares for the academy, and Rayna has reached level 100 with Zephyr's Fury. Derek returns from the Golem Dungeon at level 171 with unexplained points beyond the apparent endurance and vitality cap. His experiment with Clay also shows that Time Prison can devastate a human captive's will. Natalie Savannah and King Edwin accept Derek's case against Gerald, but Gerald uses concealed allies and teleportation routes to evade arrest. His party ambushes Edward, kills palace guards, and severs the prince's arms. Avery delays the escape until Derek and Edgar arrive. Edward survives and has his arms restored, while Derek's side captures Gerald, Clifford Arden, Vanessa Hodges, and an unidentified half-elf plant user. They return to Savannah with all four held in Time Prison. Gerald's Indrian contacts, captives, teleportation network, and raid-team informant remain unresolved. Edgar is still assembling the expedition into the severely time-distorted level-250 dungeon.
