Secret of the Phoenix
The sixth entry in the Omega Force series opens with mercenary captain Jason Burke and his crew, aboard the starship Phoenix, extracting a Galvetic Marine strike team after it captures the warlord Rorid alive during a coup on the world of Olem. After handing Rorid to allied forces, the crew accepts a charter from an archaeologist calling herself Naleem El, who says she needs a fast, armed ship to retrieve equipment from a site where hostile groups have driven her off before. Unmarked attack craft intercept the Phoenix as it leaves with her cargo; the ship escapes, but Jason remains wary of Naleem's account and deliberately keeps her close as they travel on toward an isolated, unclaimed planet to complete the job.
