Loki escaped during the assault on Asgard and began moving the world toward a larger crisis. After Atticus killed Bacchus, Artemis and Diana hunted Atticus, Granuaile, and Oberon across Europe. The Druids reached England and, with local allies, turned the hunt against the goddesses. Artemis and Diana died, but the Morrigan sacrificed herself to prevent Atticus's foretold death. Atticus, Granuaile, and Oberon survived without their battle-goddess ally, while Loki remained free and disturbances among the pantheons continued to spread.
