Sleeping Beauty (Dramatized) recap

A king and queen celebrate the birth of a daughter, but an overlooked fairy curses the princess to die from a spindle wound. A younger fairy changes the doom into a hundred-year sleep. Despite the king's ban on spindles, the princess finds an old woman spinning, pricks her hand, and falls asleep as the castle is enchanted around her. A prince reaches the castle when the century has passed, and the princess wakes. They marry and have two children, Morning and Day, but he hides them from his ogress mother. After he becomes king and leaves for war, the ogress orders the family killed and cooked. A compassionate steward conceals them and substitutes animals. When the deception is exposed, the ogress prepares to destroy everyone, but her son returns. She throws herself into her own deadly pit, leaving the royal family safe.

After becoming king, he brings them to court. During his absence at war, the ogress orders the steward to cook the children and their mother. The steward instead hides them and serves animals. When the ogress discovers the ruse, she orders a pit of deadly creatures prepared for them all. The king returns before they are thrown in. The ogress casts herself into the pit and dies, while the king's wife, children, and loyal servants survive.

After the prince inherits the throne, the existence of his wife and children is no longer concealed. When he leaves for war, his ogress mother orders the steward to kill and cook first Morning, then Day, and finally their mother. The steward hides all three and serves animals in their place. The queen discovers the deception and prepares a pit filled with dangerous creatures for the family and the servants who helped them. The king returns before the execution. Confronted by him, the ogress throws herself into the pit and dies. The princess, her husband, and their children survive and remain together.
