Streams of Silver characters
Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.
Drizzt Do'Urden (Protagonist)
Appears from the start
A dark elf ranger who left his people's underground city years ago and has made a home in Icewind Dale, fighting with two scimitars and a summoned panther. He is going south with Bruenor partly out of loyalty and partly because he has never seen the wider world, and he knows that every settled place they pass through will treat him as a monster before it treats him as anything else.
Bruenor Battlehammer (Protagonist)
Appears from the start
A dwarf king and master smith from Icewind Dale, driven out of his clan's ancestral home as a boy and set on finding it again. What he has to go on is a child's memories: a valley, a mountain with four peaks, and streams that ran silver. He is stubborn to the point of recklessness about it and short with anyone who suggests the search is hopeless.
Wulfgar (Protagonist)
Appears from the start
A young barbarian of Icewind Dale, enormous and immensely strong, who carries the warhammer Aegis-fang that Bruenor forged for him. His five years of service to the dwarf are over and he is now king of the tundra tribes, but he has chosen to spend this season repaying a debt he no longer owes. Away from the only country he knows, his certainties get tested constantly.
Regis (Supporting)
Appears from the start
A halfling from the southern city of Calimport who has spent years in Icewind Dale being as comfortable and as useless as possible. He carries a ruby pendant, stolen from the thieves' guild he fled, whose enchantment makes anyone who studies it inclined to agree with him. He is on this road mainly because staying still had become the more dangerous option.
Guenhwyvar (Supporting)
Appears from the start
A great black panther summoned from another world by an onyx figurine Drizzt carries, able to stay for a limited time before she must return and rest.
Catti-brie (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 2
A young human woman raised by Bruenor as his daughter among the dwarves of Icewind Dale. Capable, level-headed and a better shot than anyone gives her credit for, she is left behind when the company sets out and is not happy about it.
Pasha Pook (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 3
The master of a powerful thieves' guild in the southern city of Calimport, wealthy, unhurried and vindictive on a long timescale. He has spent years hunting the halfling who robbed him, and he wants the stolen pendant back rather more than he wants revenge, though he intends to have both.
Artemis Entreri (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 3
An assassin of extraordinary skill, sent north from Calimport to bring back a thief and a stolen gem. He is precise, patient and entirely without appetite for anything except the work itself and the question of whether anyone alive can match him. He fights with a saber and a jeweled dagger.
Dendybar the Mottled (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 5
A wizard of the Hosttower of the Arcane in the port city of Luskan, cautious, manipulative and consumed by his own standing among his rivals. He has been trying for years to learn what really destroyed the invading army in Icewind Dale, and he believes the dark elf travelling south can tell him.
Sydney (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 5
Dendybar's apprentice, an ambitious young mage who does the practical work her master will not leave his tower for. She is competent, careful and clear-eyed about the fact that her advancement depends entirely on bringing back results.
Jierdan (Minor)
First appears in chapter 5
A soldier of Luskan's city guard who reports privately to Dendybar and hopes the arrangement will lift him out of the ranks. He is the one who first spots the travellers from the north.
Bok (Minor)
First appears in chapter 7
A golem in Dendybar's service, a manufactured thing of enormous strength that follows one order at a time and does not stop. It can be set on a trail and will keep to it regardless of terrain, obstacles or losses.
Harkle Harpell (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 9
A wizard of Longsaddle, a member of an eccentric family of mages whose home is a running experiment in what magic will tolerate. Enthusiastic, absent-minded and genuinely well meaning, he attaches himself to the company's quest with more excitement than judgement.
Lady Alustriel (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 12
The ruler of Silverymoon, a city on the River Rauvin known for its learning and its tolerance, and one of the most powerful figures in the north. She is courteous, formidable and interested in the company's quest for reasons of her own, and she treats the dark elf with a plain civility he has met almost nowhere else.
Shimmergloom (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 20
A dragon of shadow that has lain in the deepest mines beneath the dwarven halls since the clan that dug them was driven out. It is old, black as a hole in the air, and the reason the current occupants of the halls hold them without dispute.
