The Blood of Olympus characters

By Rick Riordan

Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

Jason Grace (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

A son of the sky god and former Roman praetor, disciplined and dutiful, with power over wind and lightning. Now firmly one of the seven, he leads by example and has made peace with belonging to both the Greek and Roman worlds. As the crew closes on the final confrontation with Gaea, he braces the group for the sacrifices the prophecy seems to demand.

Piper McLean (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

A daughter of Aphrodite whose charmspeak can command with a word, now confident and battle-tested. Loyal to Jason and her friends, she trusts her own courage and cunning as much as her power, and she carries a growing dread about how the fight against the earth goddess will end.

Leo Valdez (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

A son of Hephaestus, fire-wielder and builder of the warship Argo II, still masking loneliness with jokes. Sworn to return one day for the immortal Calypso, he throws himself into inventing a way to defeat Gaea, quietly hatching a risky plan he keeps from the others.

Percy Jackson (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A son of the sea god and one of the most seasoned of the seven, hardened by his passage through Tartarus with Annabeth. Powerful over water and fiercely loyal, he stands ready for the last battle, shadowed by the darkness he saw in the pit.

Annabeth Chase (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A daughter of Athena and the crew's keenest strategist, tempered by surviving Tartarus at Percy's side. Clear-headed and resolute, she plans the demigods' moves against Gaea and the giants as the quest drives toward its climax.

Hazel Levesque (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A daughter of Pluto who commands metals, gems, and the mist, her magic much surer than when the quest began. Gentle but courageous, she uses illusion and underworld insight to protect the crew as they approach the seat of the earth goddess's power.

Frank Zhang (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A son of Mars, shapeshifter and archer, grown into a capable leader far from the anxious boy he once was, though his life is still tied to a fragile length of wood. Steadfast and brave, devoted to Hazel, he takes on the burdens of command as the Romans and the final battle loom.

Nico di Angelo (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A son of the underworld god who commands the dead and shadow-travels, one of the trio racing to carry the Athena Parthenos statue home to prevent a war between the camps. Solitary and drained by using his powers, he pushes himself past his limits, carrying private grief and a secret he guards closely.

Reyna (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A praetor of the Roman camp and daughter of a war goddess, disciplined and honorable, who has taken on the perilous mission of bringing the Athena Parthenos to Camp Half-Blood as a peace offering. Burdened by leadership and by a lonely sense of duty, she pushes herself relentlessly to hold the fragile hope of Greek and Roman unity together.

Gaea (Antagonist)

Also known as Gaia

Appears from the start

The primordial earth goddess, on the verge of waking fully. Speaking through the land and through dreams, she marshals her giants for a final assault and seeks the blood of demigods to complete her rising and reclaim the world from the gods. She is the ultimate enemy the seven must stop before she draws her first waking breath.
