The Curse of Home

The fourth book in the Darkness Within Saga follows Kael, a death wizard recently returned from the afterlife, as he works to hide four powerful tokens before an archdemon can reclaim them, despite lingering damage to his mind from an earlier battle. While his wife Ember leads an assault to retake an island held by the Ritek faction, Kael assembles a small party and sets out to conceal the tokens across dangerous territory, testing and equipping a young recruit for the journey. The group is repeatedly drawn into diplomatic complications, including a king's secret succession crisis and an investigation into a massacre at a desert order's fortress, where a hidden poison and parasite point toward a hostile tribal faction. Throughout, Kael must balance the token deliveries against a personal bargain he has made with the archdemon, whose domain becomes the party's next destination.
