A member of V.F.D. and sister of the murdered Jacques Snicket, an ally of the Baudelaires who is heavily pregnant. Last seen departing separately after the hotel burned, she is bound up with the children's fate as their story reaches its end.

The facilitator of the island's colony of castaways, an old man with clay-caked feet who sits in a great chair and insists that he never forces anyone to do anything. In practice he gently but firmly guides the islanders to live a simple, sheltered life, wearing white robes, drinking a soothing cordial, and setting aside the objects and knowledge that wash ashore from the wider world.

A friendly young girl among the island's colonists, one of the first to greet the Baudelaires when they wash ashore. Curious and kind, she befriends the children, and her mother is expecting a baby.
