Rand's luck-blessed friend, changed by his passage through an ancient doorway into a man carrying dead soldiers' memories of war, a black-hafted spear, and a medallion that turns aside the Power. Still desperate to escape battle and destiny, he keeps finding himself uncannily good at both.

A famed archer-heroine out of legend, plainspoken, brave, and unmatched with a bow, who becomes a close and unexpected companion to Nynaeve and Elayne. Loyal and matter-of-fact, she adapts warily to a strange new time and to friends she never expected to have.

One of the Forsaken, the Dark One's ancient champions freed from long imprisonment, called the Spider for her patient cruelty. Having already clashed with Nynaeve, she prefers traps, stealth, and manipulation from the shadows to open confrontation, and she nurses a grudge against the young women who defied her.
