In short (whole book)
Restored to his body on the Aether-Nether front, Randidly develops his three images, rejects the System's control over his Nether, and independently creates the six-part Paradox of the Alchemist fate set. Its Philosopher's Key lets him rebuild allies and manipulate karmic routes. He also saves the Alpha Cosmos from a Nether ritual by making his crimson-gowned companion its new system-like authority. A vast Nether offensive exposes the projection-duplicator's recreated battlefield and its people as real karmic duplicates. Randidly develops a balanced Aether-Nether core and helps stop the duplicator and Nether King, though the King remains dormant beyond the Rift. Lord Milne dies, the feathered commander becomes Supreme Commander, and Randidly receives punitive service but gains leave. His partner departs to restore the ancient original woman and investigate the Zurt Brigade, while hundreds of duplicate survivors escape to Earth. Randidly halts an Alpha Cosmos war, matures the Philosopher's Key, and prepares to return to Earth for the next fate piece. On Earth, a blood-avatar controller escapes and Nevaeh's rescue party remains trapped with three Nemesai.
Previously, in earlier books (earlier books)
Previously: Randidly Ghosthound developed three central images - Yggdrasil, Ignition Essence, and the Grim Chimera - while carrying the growing Alpha Cosmos within his soul skill. His conflict with Nexus powers and his exposure to Nether brought him to the Aether-Nether front, where he was separated from his physical body. His unusual ability to work with both Aether and Nether made him valuable to allies and dangerous to the powers trying to control him. As the new volume begins, his immediate priority is recovering the full use of his body and bringing his images back into balance.
Story so far - through chapter 10 (this book)
Randidly returns to his body and uses Yggdrasil to help stop a Nether assault. The feathered commander asks him to create a new class for her, but he postpones the work until he can recover and condense his own fate. He restores Ignition Essence, checks the Alpha Cosmos, and learns that Asriel has left to investigate a border ruin alone. Renewed Nether attacks show how vulnerable the Aether camps have become under Lord Milne's decisions. The injured azure-haired fighter rejects her hairless adviser's attempt to shape her through grief and battlefield deaths. When her damaged glove-fate matches an ancient fate that once aided Randidly, he suspects she is a duplicate of a historical warrior and that the adviser engineered her approach. Randidly assures her that an artificial origin would not make her unreal, and their growing affection becomes mutual. He then meets the adviser below the Great Rift. The man admits he is a legendary projection-duplicator, says Lord Milne supplied the Aether used to make the woman, and proposes an alliance while promising to explain the original warrior's history.
Story so far - through chapter 23 (this book)
The projection-duplicator describes the ancient woman as a Nether-core pioneer whose work shaped the front's grand formations and the modern overlay system. He also reveals that the present duplicate will eventually lose the Aether sustaining her. He offers her a normal lifespan only if Randidly later submits to a ritual that would duplicate him and his growing Alpha Cosmos. Before Randidly answers, the Nether King demands the captured Nether Prince and sends a huge vanguard. Randidly commands a flank, preserves nearly all its soldiers, and helps the feathered commander survive severe image damage. The azure-haired fighter defeats a Gatekeeper and renews her commitment to grow without abandoning compassion. Meanwhile, Randidly approaches level 50 and prepares three external fates to support Yggdrasil, Ignition Essence, and the Grim Chimera. A separate crisis erupts inside the Alpha Cosmos when the Hell Labyrinth opens and releases life-draining miasma. Azrael has gone far inside alone. Randidly rescues a scouting party, recognizes the labyrinth as a deliberate Nether training structure, and descends rapidly. At floor fifty he reaches a familiar hostile creature waiting near the ritual's heart.
Story so far - through chapter 32 (this book)
At the Hell Labyrinth's lower platform, Randidly finds his crimson-gowned companion prepared as the vessel for a vast Nether seed. A residual creature embedded in the Alpha Cosmos claims the ritual will create a weapon against the Nexus, but accepting it would also impose the creature's hatred and image upon Randidly. He halts the flow rather than sacrifice his companion, only to leave enough unstable Nether to threaten the entire world. The companion awakens and explains that she entered knowingly because the Alpha Cosmos needs a Nether counterpart to match the Nether within Randidly. After arguing over the risk, they redesign the ritual together. Memory-forms from older versions of the soul skill contribute their accumulated history, while the companion accepts the creature's karma and takes its structural place. Randidly then uses that karma to sever the existing overlay system. During the dangerous interval that follows, the companion installs a new internal overlay and becomes the system-like authority of the Alpha Cosmos, balanced against Randidly as its world-like individual. The Nether storm ends and Randidly dismisses the creature's projection, though the companion remains altered and carries residual influence from what she accepted.
Story so far - through chapter 41 (this book)
Back at the front, Randidly conceals the controlled Nether now visible around him and works with the azure-haired fighter on an array that helps grow a fruit-bearing tree. Randidly's training order suffers its first death when Aldo sacrifices himself to save Garrett. Vi accepts promotion as a knight-errant, while Garrett remains to watch Randidly and redirect his guilt. Evidence suggests Aldo may have been deliberately made to slip, opening a quiet investigation. At the front, repeated Nether attacks continue while Lord Milne keeps the Nether Prince. Randidly learns that victories can shorten his enforced Nexus service and plans to use the Prince's memory-rich interior to rebuild the feathered commander's class. He supports his isolated subordinate Salazar and continues refining his three images. Ignition Essence processes the Hiltless Blade's history, while Yggdrasil becomes a growing record through advanced engraving. Randidly also completes a Nether Chimera path, strengthening the cooperation of Aether and Nether within the Grim Chimera. His engraving skill evolves so that the patterns placed across Yggdrasil can remain stable, improve over time, and share part of that growth with earlier creations.
Story so far - through chapter 51 (this book)
Randidly unifies Yggdrasil into a pinnacle skill set whose enormous manifestation steadies the front and revives nearby plant life. He raises key attributes beyond major thresholds, pursues the Akashic path, and gains the Book of Names. He then destroys a System-created Nether skill that appears designed to monitor and manipulate him. Ignition Essence finishes absorbing the Hiltless Blade's legacy, including the guilt of a woman whose divided soul linked her fate to her sister Radiance. At level 50, the normal fate apparatus cannot attach to Randidly because he lacks a System Aether connection. Studying it reveals that ordinary fate creation binds a person's images and karma to class and System. Randidly instead builds a living three-part apparatus from Aether and Nether. The power of Yggdrasil, the blade's legacy, and the Alpha Cosmos overloads his design, but he stabilizes it. His class divides the result into six pieces, five of which depart along karmic connections. The remaining piece gives him the first recorded fate set, Paradox of the Alchemist, and its Philosopher's Key. The Key can open karmic portals, and Randidly immediately proves it by opening a route to Earth.
Story so far - through chapter 58 (this book)
Nexus authorities notice Randidly's fate set, although a hidden intervention delays formal scrutiny. He enters the dream released from the captured Nether Prince with the feathered commander, a senior front-line commander, and that commander's human-looking partial copy of Randidly. Inside, he uses the Philosopher's Key to dismantle the feathered commander's old class, fate, and related System structures with her consent. He rebuilds them around the potential contributed by her followers, granting her a new class, a legendary skill, and a powerful serpent Avatar fate. The result makes her vastly stronger. Randidly next remakes the azure-haired fighter's class and fate, but worries that the process has embedded a dark, acquisitive image within her. When the dream ends, the senior commander and his Randidly-like copy have both gained strength. The projection-duplicator abruptly demands the promised ritual, admitting his earlier timetable was false. Randidly refuses despite fearing what that choice means for the fighter's failing support. At the same moment, the Nether King launches a million-strong offensive against heavily outnumbered Aether forces.
Story so far - through chapter 67 (this book)
Randidly checks the azure-haired fighter's condition and finds that his Aether enters her without an obvious trace. Her present-day brother deepens the contradiction surrounding her ancient duplicated origin, but the battle leaves no time to investigate. Randidly fortifies the feathered commander's trench with Yggdrasil, then deliberately draws a mass of Nether beasts into a trap and annihilates them. The cost prevents him from using the same defenses there again. He spreads an offensive benefit across tens of thousands of soldiers, but a six-armed near-Gatekeeper breaks through. Randidly fights it with the Grim Chimera, drains its Nether, and survives repeated blows as Sulphur evolves into stronger black armor. His sentient spear also becomes a three-headed armor-piercing lance. The Nether King directly strikes Randidly's position, killing most nearby defenders and admitting two more near-Gatekeepers. Randidly engages all three in the ruined trench. A temporary Chimera evolution cracks one enemy core but leaves him badly strained. Before he can finish them, the Nether King escalates again by dropping hundreds of stronger combatants, followed by nearly a thousand more, onto the front.
Story so far - through chapter 78 (this book)
The feathered commander's empowered lieutenant relieves Randidly and orders him to recover for a planned offensive. While he rests, the commander and the azure-haired fighter display sudden, troubling increases in power. Randidly returns by summoning riders to the collapsing right flank and evolving Ignition Essence into a painful but stronger suite of fire skills. He clears lesser Nether beasts, helps the fighter finish several Gatekeepers, and forges her a much heavier gauntlet. Meanwhile, darkness produced through the grand formation and battlefield deaths begins drawing soldiers toward despair and self-destruction. Randidly and the commander assault the Nether King's strengthening ritual. Her raven-winged serpent damages it, prompting the King to send Heralds that exceed ordinary Gatekeepers. The commander faces two while a third descends. Recognizing that he cannot defeat it directly, Randidly deepens his understanding of the Philosopher's Key. He accepts that leadership means answering the trust of people shaped by his protection, completes a monarch path, and anchors the Key against the Supreme Commander's barrier. The resulting lock seals the sky and repels the third Herald, though sustaining it nearly exhausts him.
Story so far - through chapter 89 (this book)
Randidly's three images help preserve his sky lock until he releases it at the right moment, wasting the momentum of incoming Heralds. The projection-duplicator then drops a veil: many Aether reinforcements become listless, Nether beasts attack one another, and parts of the Nether King's formation vanish. The azure-haired fighter delays three Heralds while Lord Milne advances toward the Great Rift. Elsewhere, she falls under the control of a darkness-infused alternate self, kills an approaching military witness, and infects the feathered commander's lieutenant with another darkness. The projection-duplicator's secret becomes clear. His battlefield and reinforcements are karmic recreations of real people who died there thousands of years ago, and the duplicates are genuine individuals. He created the world to escape the death fate inherited from his original self, exploiting its population as power. The Nether King's damaged formation still releases a catastrophic wave that kills much of the Aether army. The lieutenant returns mortally wounded after absorbing part of the attack that saved his commander's fort. He dies in her arms, urging her to continue their shared ambition. Grieving and armed with black wing-like darkness, she marches toward Lord Milne.
Story so far - through chapter 103 (this book)
The projection-duplicator and Lord Milne fight the Nether King as three karmic versions of the ancient woman act through the azure-haired fighter, an attached duplicate, and the feathered commander. Randidly discovers that Nether cores form through personal significance and uses the importance of his first meeting with Shawl to create a new central core. He also refines liquid Aether through emotion, producing drops for healing and attack. The recent duplicate rejects the ancient original's effort to force her into repeating a sacrificial past and instead saves an innocent duplicate of their brother. Randidly's balanced Aether-Nether power lets him enter the Great Rift and fight the projection-duplicator, whose existence there is consuming his reserves. The azure-haired fighter rescues Randidly, and they attack together. When another duplicate restores the enemy's power with battlefield death-energy, Randidly uses the Philosopher's Key to open communication among their karmic versions. The ancient original urges the attached duplicate to judge herself by present choices. Randidly's Lantern of Harsh Truths breaks her control and ends the duplicator's energy supply. Afterward, the Nether King is dormant and the duplicator has disappeared from the field. The feathered commander finds the maimed Lord Milne and kills him for her lieutenant's death.
Story so far - through chapter 110 (this book)
Randidly spends almost thirty hours healing roughly fourteen thousand survivors from an army that began near eighty thousand. Nexus command declares Lord Milne a hero, promotes the feathered commander to Supreme Commander, and makes Randidly a Commander while extending his compulsory service to five years as punishment for withholding the projection-duplicator's body. The azure-haired fighter takes that immobilized body so she can restore the ancient original woman, then leaves for probationary Zurt Brigade training to investigate the organization. Randidly receives six months of leave and sends nearly seven hundred surviving duplicates through the Philosopher's Key to Earth, directing them toward Karen. He detects the Zurt Brigade building a structure around the dormant Nether King, raising doubts about the King's origin and purpose. On Earth, the Zone One president's Hero Initiative ceremony is attacked by a giant blood creature linked to the Red Revival. Alana returns with the crystalline dragon Wyvanya, while Hank defends Orchard. Together they break the blood avatar. Its red-cloaked controller survives, uses a hostage to block Hank's shot, and escapes as flowing blood into the sewers, leaving smaller creatures behind.
Story so far - through chapter 114 (this book)
Attention shifts among several Earth settlements. At Fowldoers, Auburn Mies learns that a delegation is coming from Nordon, the ogres' ancestral home, threatening the community's recent peace. Donnyton prepares expanded trials while receiving reports about the Red Revival, a newly discovered isolated Chicago settlement, renewed contact from its sister village, and worldwide rewards from cleared danger zones. Elsewhere, Roy endures a Meaningful Visions episode that revisits his death, revival, and permanent psychological damage. He awakens while Nevaeh and Sydney carry him away from the Toad Lord. Sydney also secures the blinded and badly injured Drake inside a floating crystal coffin. Nevaeh has already driven off the Toad Lord, adapting rapidly to its ether bindings. Before the party can withdraw, three Nemesai attack: the Bandit King, a winged serpent, and the Obsidian Duke. Nevaeh and Sydney overpower their initial assault. When the Nemesai try to flee through a portal, Nevaeh freezes the surrounding ether and collapses the route. Roy and Drake remain alive, but the rescue group is still behind enemy lines with a new fight about to begin.
Story so far - through chapter 118 (this book)
Inside the Alpha Cosmos, tensions between the Shelley Kingdom and Armgrast Empire reach the edge of a vast war. Randidly uses the Philosopher's Key to let Azrael resolve her personal estrangement from the Armgrast prince, but the political crisis has moved beyond his control. He therefore manifests a skyscraper-sized Grim Chimera between the armies, destroys a war engine, floods the border with miasma, and weakly locks the mountain pass. Armgrast retreats, leaving the conflict delayed for months rather than settled. Wendy avoids a direct meeting but supplies designs for a new left arm and improvements for Karen. Randidly reaches level 55, gains Profound Influence, and forges black metal for the replacement arm with Sulphur's help. The Philosopher's Key then reaches level 100 and awakens the next piece of Paradox of the Alchemist. Following its karmic connection reveals that the piece is on Earth. Randidly returns from the Alpha Cosmos and plans to depart in four days. Lady Elia warns that Military Command is assigning him a veteran adviser from a family linked to a sealed battlefield champion, creating possible scrutiny. He ends the book alive, on leave, and bound for Earth, while the Nether King, Zurt Brigade, duplicate aftermath, Alpha Cosmos conflict, Red Revival, and Nemesai rescue all remain unresolved.
How does it end? (ending)
The front survives at catastrophic cost. The feathered commander kills Lord Milne, becomes Supreme Commander, and continues without the stone-bodied lieutenant who died protecting her forces. The Nether King is dormant beyond the Great Rift, where the Zurt Brigade is building an unexplained structure around it. The projection-duplicator remains alive but immobilized, while another duplicate of him is comatose. Randidly's partner takes the duplicator's body to restore the ancient original woman, then intends to enter Zurt Brigade training and investigate it. Their relationship remains intact. Randidly is promoted to Commander and assigned five years of punitive service, but begins six months of leave. He sends nearly seven hundred duplicate survivors to Earth, pauses an Alpha Cosmos war by sealing a mountain pass, prepares metal for a new left arm, and matures the Philosopher's Key to level 100. The Key locates the next piece of his fate set on Earth, where he plans to go in four days, though a new military adviser may bring scrutiny. The Red Revival's blood controller remains at large after Orchard's defenders destroy his avatar. Roy and Drake survive their rescue, but Nevaeh and Sydney still face three trapped Nemesai behind enemy lines.
