The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound 6: A LitRPG Adventure recap
Every recap below is hidden until you open it. Each one is safe to read once you have finished the chapter it names.
In short (whole book)
Randidly divides his attention between Earth's unsettled institutions and the crisis on Telus. On Earth, he exposes Unity Church experiments, supports legal chivalric orders, and leaves allies to manage the consequences. On Telus, the stolen Spear Source has halted ordinary growth while the Whites invade. Randidly survives the southern campaign, converts White animating energy into power for spear users, and endures a lethal trial by the Patron of Ash. He destroys the patron's consciousness, claims part of its mantle, and survives with permanent soul scars and plant abilities that end in fire or cold ash. Lucretia is deconstructed by the Autarch but survives in a new body inside Randidly's soul-world. Silo deteriorates under corrupting power, while Drake temporarily allies with Roy. Randidly defeats Helen tactically in the tournament but concedes and promises to help investigate her father's death. An Engraving Guild investigator proves to be a propagator puppet, whose controller captures Randidly. The book ends with him planning to reforge his class and sabotage his engraved island prison.
Previously, in earlier books (earlier books)
Previously: Randidly Ghosthound became a powerful founder on Earth and a disciple of Shal's spear tradition on Telus. His abilities join plant growth, spear combat, Aether, and an expanding inner world, while several soul-linked companions share or inhabit parts of his power. Lucretia is his principal Aether expert, and another shapeshifting companion can take his public form. Randidly's ties to Earth remain personal and political even when he travels between worlds. Helen is a Telus spear fighter with whom he has an unresolved bond, and Shal is the mentor who rescued and armed him. The System's classes, paths, patrons, danger zones, and calamities continue to reshape both individuals and entire societies. This volume begins with Randidly operating under a cover identity in Zone 1 while his allies attempt to turn new power into stable institutions.
Story so far - through chapter 14 (this book)
Nathan rebuilds Tatiana's unsuitable class into the combat-focused Crooked Dagger, accepting serious risk to her identity. Randidly, operating in Zone 1 as Baloo Erickson, reveals his true identity to her after she learns that a soul-linked companion is impersonating him elsewhere. Their trust remains damaged. A Unity Church-linked network is abducting people and using captives in monster experiments. Randidly allows black exosuits to take him to a Lake Apollo facility, where Father Foster reveals herself as Faust, an independent female raid-boss incarnation. Thea, Chrysanthemum, and their allies intervene on Faust's behalf. Randidly evacuates captives, defeats the attackers, and appears to kill Thea and Faust, but Thea survives through an illusion and escapes badly wounded. Hank's separate investigation ends with Ezekiel attacking him and admitting that Randidly is his son. Randidly then confronts Ghost, Zone 1's artificial intelligence. Ghost admits knowing about the Church's research and using it to sustain Ezekiel, although it claims not to have understood the full human cost at first. Randidly chooses conditional cooperation, obtains leads on monster-spawning sites, and proposes giving Ghost a body.
Story so far - through chapter 28 (this book)
Tessa develops a rights-based political answer to unchecked power. Her proposal creates chivalric orders, protects prisoners and altered people, and seeks institutional limits on figures such as Randidly. Hank finds his missing brother among twelve thousand altered people. An altered treant leader restores the dying man with white flame, and the community insists that its members are people rather than monsters. Randidly confronts the Unity Church over its experiments, then begins building a steel and drone company with Tatiana. He supports Tessa's proposal even after recognizing that it is partly intended to restrain him. The first orders are founded with altered refugees among their founders, and the council names Randidly an order founder with duties to enforce its standards. Before returning to Telus, Randidly leads an ogre danger-zone clear. Tatiana reaches level 46, kills the boss, and chooses a race-wide reward instead of personal power. Everyone gains attributes and faster experience, but the clear also opens a portal to an ogre realm and accelerates other danger zones. Randidly accepts his Earth obligations and confirms that he will leave for Telus within a week.
Story so far - through chapter 36 (this book)
Helen pays a severe inter-realm cost to bring Randidly back to Telus. Their reunion exposes both mutual feeling and Helen's grief over her father. She explains that the Whites seized the Spear Source through treachery. Without it, ordinary people on Telus cannot level normally and may eventually deteriorate. The under-25 tournament continues despite the world-level crisis. Two White armies and a Witch King attack the Western capital. Randidly reaches level 25 while defending a wall and recognizes that Telus's spear users are poorly equipped for mass defense. He forges shields, imposes a disciplined shield-and-spear formation, and suppresses the attackers' coordinated song. The Witch King enters the battle personally and proves much stronger than Randidly. A needle-spear teammate repeatedly diverts the Witch King from Randidly and suffers grave wounds. Randidly chooses to save her rather than preserve an ally's chance to kill the enemy. His heavy spear strike changes the timing, wounds the Witch King, and lets him carry the woman away as the Whites retreat. The city survives, but the Witch King escapes and the teammate's recovery is uncertain.
Story so far - through chapter 45 (this book)
Randidly continues rescue work after the siege and gives the local Sentinel a severed Witch King finger and ring to answer criticism that he sacrificed a possible kill for one teammate. The Sentinel still treats him as indebted. Randidly agrees to form an Aether connection with the injured woman to improve her recovery, while Helen openly defends his status as Shal's disciple. On Earth, Drake begins a coastal mission for Sydney, survives betrayal at sea, and reaches an island after killing a powerful sea creature. Naffer, a classless Orchard youth trapped by criminal debt, is recruited for a robbery. At the Orchard lottery he discovers that a second, lethal group has entered the same building through a portal. Wearing a Ghosthound mask, he attacks one infiltrator and begins resisting the gang's plan. On Telus, the schools suspect an insider and redirect the tournament into a month-long southern military campaign against the Whites. Randidly joins Team 16 with Silo, a white-haired spearwoman, and an engraved-spear woman. Their survival and battlefield results will now determine who reaches the tournament finals.
Story so far - through chapter 57 (this book)
Team 16 trains before deployment. Randidly improves enough to defeat Helen in a duel and asks to pursue a relationship after the tournament. Silo secretly draws power from a black-stoned ring that mutates his skills, erodes his old images, and makes him violently ill. The team crosses dangerous water, survives a kraken and waves of attackers, then begins raiding the southern islands. Randidly experiments with resonance between his ash skills. The Patron of Ash intervenes before the attempt destroys him, and the process creates a new short-range Ashen Spear movement kata. Soon afterward, enemy soldiers ambush the team, confirming that the Whites have noticed their operations. Drake reaches an airborne city while seeking the governing authority of a newly connected zone. The local ruler confirms that Roy passed through first and was also asking about the World Crater. Sydney tells Drake that his mission is meant to oppose Roy, turning diplomacy into pursuit. Roy is ahead of him in a region where the crater's monsters reach far beyond the surrounding population's normal strength.
Story so far - through chapter 68 (this book)
Team 16 joins surviving military scouts and infiltrates what appears to be a White fortification. The site is actually a breeding facility ruled by a propagator, a White royal whose true crystalline beetle body controls humanoid and giant puppets through sound. The creature kills scouts, traps Randidly, Silo, and a teammate inside a crystal domain, and overwhelms them with resonant attacks. The military sergeant activates a corrosive fate to break the domain. The remaining fighters refuse to abandon one another and force an escape, but half the group is lost. The propagator deliberately allows the seven survivors to flee because it intends to follow them to a more valuable target. Crystal fragments driven into Randidly's body serve as a hidden tracking method. Randidly also learns that a prophecy associates Shal with a legendary slayer of propagators. Meanwhile Drake travels by skyship toward the World Crater, still following Roy. The mission now spans two linked dangers: Randidly's group unknowingly carries the propagator toward friendly territory, while Drake approaches the crater without knowing what Roy intends to find there.
Story so far - through chapter 74 (this book)
Lucretia leaves Randidly's body and examines a mature karmic thread that signals an approaching reckoning. A ritual restores her memories: she was created among the Whites to hide on Telus and level, and her original purpose is now pressing against the life and relationships she built for herself. She returns to the White stronghold and is summoned by the Autarch, creator and ruler of the Whites. Lucretia resists deconstruction by drawing Aether through Randidly and attacking the Autarch through their karmic bond. He overpowers her and explains that he needs her body in an attempt to escape his own prison. Her body and identity are broken apart, and she cannot leave a lasting curse on him. Lucretia nevertheless survives. Her desire for family and connection anchors her to a karmic thread, and her consciousness awakens as a newborn in another dimension within Randidly's inner world. She retains her memories but is separated from both Randidly and Shal, whom she identifies as her son. Her immediate goal becomes finding a way to attract Randidly's attention and escape her new condition.
Story so far - through chapter 85 (this book)
The tracked propagator attacks South Point Beach soon after Randidly's battered group arrives. Hundreds of thousands of Whites overwhelm the lightly defended supply base. Randidly witnesses spear paragons die holding the shore, their devotion producing a vast spear-shaped Aether phenomenon. He then spends weeks ambushing White formations and sees the invaders massacre civilians and collect bodies. On Earth, Naffer survives the Manhattan building attack, rescues Senator Firefly from a falling elevator, and returns for Maureen despite severe injuries. Randidly's public double neutralizes the remaining attackers and appoints Naffer as Agent One of the Order Dukies. Back on Telus, Randidly destroys large formations with terrain and plant traps. He answers a trapped squad's call for help and enters a battle arranged to lure him toward a Witch King. With a fast spearwoman's aid, he wounds the Witch King and forces it to retreat, but they cannot kill it. The surviving soldiers are safe for the moment, while the encounter confirms that Randidly remains well below the strength of Telus's highest threats.
Story so far - through chapter 92 (this book)
Drake reaches the World Crater and follows a quest item into a sealed maze, where he finds Roy trapped above deadly black liquid. Roy rescues Drake during an attack and trades the matching half of the Naga item for help. Although Drake still holds Roy responsible for deaths in his settlement, he accepts a temporary alliance to pursue a ritual involving a true Naga. On the Telus front, Randidly buries fallen soldiers and studies a spear-centered pulse of Aether gathering above the war. He realizes that tournament soul stones can draw the animating residue from dead Whites. Using a twenty-kilometer underground engraving, he drains roughly one hundred thousand Whites and directs that energy into the spear phenomenon. A second army is caught when it approaches the same area. The maneuver gives Telus a repeatable way to turn White casualties into spear-friendly power, but it leaves Randidly exhausted and internally unstable. During the return trip to the tournament, he completes the Chosen of Ash path. He is transported into a dark ash-covered place where none of his skills function.
Story so far - through chapter 100 (this book)
The Patron of Ash explains calamities through its own history. It describes a second calamity as a conflict between a world's dominant image and its darkest alternative, with Telus stalled because neither side has resolved the struggle. The patron wants a successor to inherit the cursed image that survived the destruction of its world. It has already placed that image inside Randidly before presenting the choice. The ash attacks Randidly's soul, destroys many skills, and leaves permanent scars. Randidly rejects the patron's intended succession. He severs its consciousness with one manifestation of his class and claims part of the mantle with another. When the semi-sentient ash image continues its assault, he survives by acknowledging its grief and inviting it to coexist within his Ashen Spear. Several remaining abilities evolve, but his soul and class structure are badly damaged. The patron persists briefly as a spirit and gives its final secret: a mantle-linked portal that it believes leads toward a third calamity. It asks Randidly to oppose the maker of the System. Randidly declines to enter immediately and instead trains the dangerous perception ability All Is Ash.
Story so far - through chapter 113 (this book)
Randidly returns from the patron's realm with major physical gains and a deeply altered relationship to plants. His mana now forces violent growth, but the plants soon burn into ash. He uses the effect to till abandoned fields and leave fertile ash rather than create unsafe food. A grassroots Black Feather coalition asks his tournament group to wear its symbol against the established schools, and the group agrees. At the Hall of Stances, Randidly studies preserved spear images and begins consolidating his fragmented combat styles. He also agrees to retrofit his teammate's hereditary engraved spear with a tournament soul stone, learning that her family preserved forbidden engraving knowledge. Two unknown investigators decide he is disguised and plan to seize him after the tournament. Silo's condition worsens. The foreign power that carried him toward level 50 replaces his old images, intensifies his desire to kill, and leaves visible physical damage. After reaching level 50, he murders civilians whom he judges to be bullies and accepts an inner voice's claim that heroism means imposing discipline on others.
Story so far - through chapter 122 (this book)
Inside Randidly's soul-world, Lucretia grows up in a half-monster body and becomes the protector of a wealthy girl whose karma is linked to Randidly. After an attack kills the girl's father and brother, Lucretia preserves the heir's position and helps her pursue the organization responsible. Years later the heir is a formidable engineer, while Lucretia's investigation exposes a broad network of coercion and political influence. On Telus, historical research suggests that the Spearman unified the world, survived two calamities, and vanished after an order to ascend. The usual account of the Spear Source does not match contemporary records. Randidly reopens contact with Shal, while Ophelia's faction attacks an elderly master for information. Shal releases a sealed Wraith Adder style, but the elder defeats and spares the group after warning them about old oaths. Those oaths have long restrained the school leaders, partly because high-level skills expose them to the world's violence. The Spearman School leader finally breaks restraint and annihilates a White force approaching a million, devastating the southern region as well. Telus's strongest schools have now entered the war openly.
Story so far - through chapter 128 (this book)
Naffer is given the Order Dukies' accumulated gifts and authority to recommend new orders. Although overwhelmed by the responsibility, he selects health-focused and technology-focused candidates, both of which receive provisional approval at the order summit. The unresolved issue is control of the planned rail network between zones. A spatial tear interrupts the summit and releases powerful monsters into the Eastern Gardens, close to Maureen's farewell party. Naffer fights through the attack in his Ghosthound mask, and Randidly's public double launches him into Maureen's courtyard. Naffer beats down the creature threatening her but loses control of his violence and flees after she sees him. At the rescheduled party, Naffer leaves a hand-woven flower crown and withdraws in shame. When he later sees Maureen returning the crown, he assumes she has rejected him and runs out of Orchard. In fact, she values the gift and is returning it only because she already owned the same design. Naffer leaves under a false belief, while Maureen prepares to work at Randidly's settlement.
Story so far - through chapter 139 (this book)
Randidly uses the Hall of Stances to study simple images held with absolute conviction. He pushes too far into a cold image and reaches the tournament final physically impaired. Meanwhile Silo enters another powerful Heretic judgment alone, and the Engraving Guild receives freedom to pursue its investigation of Randidly. Helen faces Randidly in the final under an agreement that they will fight seriously, after which the stronger fighter will concede and leave the tournament behind. Helen's predictive combat reading, blood imagery, and rare Tides of Blood domain drive Randidly to the edge. Her strength is rooted in a personal image shaped by grief and persistence, while his borrowed cold initially lacks that depth. Randidly finds a lasting place for cold within his ash image and creates Frigid Ash, Extinguishing Storm. He then refines another spear technique enough to shatter Helen's weapon and decide the tactical contest. Afterward he apologizes for failing her when her father died and promises to answer her call in the search for the killer. He concedes as agreed, so Helen becomes the official winner.
Story so far - through chapter 142 (this book)
Within Randidly's soul-world, Lucretia's engineer has helped defeat the Earth Golem emperor through mechanized weapons powered by a specialized battery, although no body was recovered. Lucretia notices that worldwide cold spells and altered world-tree energy mirror the changes in Randidly's ash power. The engineer prepares to marry while Lucretia investigates the spreading change. Earth Golem attackers and masked allies assault the wedding, slaughter guests, and capture the groom. The simultaneous attack on the engineer's shareholders exposes members of the conspiracy that Lucretia and the engineer have hunted for years. The wedding itself was intended as bait, but the engineer had not expected to care deeply for the man selected to participate. When the groom is fatally speared, the engineer activates a resonator built around a powerful ash-aligned ability. Fury transforms her into an incarnation of ash, and she destroys the mountain surrounding the chapel. The ambush exposes the conspiracy at the cost of the groom's life, while confirming that Randidly's altered ash is reshaping the inner world as well as his own abilities.
Story so far - through chapter 145 (this book)
After conceding to Helen, Randidly confirms that his altered plants can end in either burning destruction or cold gray ash. An Engraving Guild representative confronts him over forbidden mana engraving and attempts to take him into custody. Randidly refuses and attacks. The representative uses a lightning image for extreme speed and force, but Randidly discovers that the apparent person is a blue-steel puppet. He traces its control signal to an azure insect-like propagator and cuts off one of the creature's antennae. The propagator lands on him and uses a psychic annihilation attack that leaves him unconscious. It orders Randidly confined until an inquisitor can penetrate the images obscuring his secrets. At the same time, Lucretia and the ash-incarnate engineer interrogate a captured official in the soul-world. They learn that a secret governing group believes their world is a constructed prison abandoned by its creator and is searching for exits. Both story lines end in confinement: the inner-world conspiracy seeks escape from creation, while Randidly has been taken into a prison built by enemies who want his system and engraving knowledge.
Story so far - through chapter 148 (this book)
Randidly wakes in a system-suppressing underground cell. The chamber sharply increases the cost of movement and skills, blocks regeneration, and separates him from the normal system overlay. His captors have taken his armor, living spear, and interspatial ring, leaving only a pouch of seeds. He can still extend roots beyond the immediate cell and use Absolute Timing to read limited raw-system information. The prison is a small island surrounded by deep water inside a circular chamber with a dense engraved Aether boundary. Randidly studies its runes while managing severe chest pain and the limited mana available to him. Seeds, roots, caustic blood, and specialized soul work remain possible tools, but an obvious attempt would alert his captors before he understands the design. After several days, he establishes a routine of refining images, testing slow mana engraving, and mapping the boundary. The missing overlay may also remove ordinary scrutiny from changes to his class. Randidly therefore chooses a longer plan: reforge his damaged class inside the prison, use engraving to compromise the barrier, and prepare an escape before the expected inquisitor arrives.
How does it end? (ending)
Randidly ends the volume imprisoned beneath Telus after exposing an Engraving Guild representative as a blue-steel puppet controlled by an azure propagator. The propagator defeats him with a psychic attack and holds him for an inquisitor. His armor, living spear, interspatial ring, and normal system overlay are gone, but he retains seeds, limited root abilities, Absolute Timing, and slow mana engraving. After several days on the small island inside the suppression chamber, he decides to reforge his class beyond normal system scrutiny and undermine the engraved boundary. Helen is the official tournament winner because Randidly conceded after gaining the tactical advantage. She also has his promise to help find her father's killer. The Spear Source remains missing, the White invasion continues, and Telus's school leaders have broken their old restraint. Silo is alone in another Heretic judgment after corrupting power drove him to murder civilians. Lucretia remains separated inside Randidly's soul-world, where the spread of ash has reshaped the life of the engineer she protects. Drake and Roy continue their temporary Naga alliance despite Drake's unresolved grievance. On Earth, the new chivalric orders operate amid unresolved Unity Church fallout, altered-person rights, and a dispute over rail control.
