The Sign of the Four (SoundCraft Audiobooks)

By Arthur Conan Doyle

Between cases Sherlock Holmes is bored enough to turn to cocaine, to Dr Watson's dismay, when a young governess named Mary Morstan calls at Baker Street. Her father, a captain in an Indian regiment who had served with the convict guard in the Andaman Islands, came home on leave nearly ten years ago and vanished the night he reached London. Some years later a newspaper advertisement asked for her address, and ever since a single large pearl has arrived by post once a year with no word of who sent it. Now a letter has come asking her to wait outside the Lyceum Theatre that evening, telling her she has been wronged and will see justice done, and that she may bring two friends but not the police. Holmes and Watson go with her. It is the second book of the Sherlock Holmes series.
