Representing the Akura clan in the final stages of the Uncrowned King tournament, Lindon is an Underlord who fights with Blackflame, pure and empty madra, Soulsmith constructs, and the rapid analysis of his mind-spirit Dross. Having already outperformed every expectation for a competitor of his humble origins, he faces the tournament's strongest surviving competitors while still relying on preparation and adaptability rather than the inherited power of the great clans.

One of the Akura team's fiercest competitors and Lindon's closest companion, a sword artist trained by the late Sage of the Endless Sword. She fights with blistering sword madra, the Endless Sword technique, and a blood shadow drawn from her own life, and she has carved her way through the tournament on skill and sheer will. She enters its final rounds determined to face the strongest opponents in the field, whatever the cost.

The Arelius family sacred artist who teaches and patronizes Lindon and Yerin, guiding the Akura team with unshakeable good cheer and a mastery of Hollow and Void arts far beyond what his manner suggests. He shepherds his students through the tournament's conclusion with aims he keeps largely to himself.

A kind-hearted princess of the Akura clan competing beside Lindon and Yerin, who wields the living shadow-bow known as the Book of Eternal Night. Loyal to her friends despite the demands of her ruthless family, she fights on into the tournament's final stages.

The quick-witted mind-spirit dwelling within Lindon, recovered from Ghostwater, who models opponents and dissects techniques faster than any person can think. His analysis is one of Lindon's decisive advantages in the tournament's hardest matches.

A golden dragon backed by the lion Monarch Reigan Shen and one of the tournament's most powerful and arrogant competitors. Contemptuous of anyone she deems lesser than a dragon, she is willing to go far beyond the bounds of a fair contest to see Lindon's group destroyed.

The lion Monarch who patronizes the dragons and manipulates events around the tournament for his own long-term ambitions. Immensely powerful and coldly calculating, he is content to bend or break the contest's rules through his proxies to advance his aims.

One of the continent's reclusive Monarchs, a peerless hunter and scholar of the sacred arts who observes the young competitors with unusual attention. Detached from the politics of the other great powers, he takes a particular interest in Lindon over the course of the tournament.
