Vincent (Protagonist)
Also known as Old Man Vincent, Vincent the Wanderer, Vincent the Eldritch
Appears from the start
A veteran player, builder, and Void-magic fighter whose avatar was taken over during the earlier Riseguard conflict. After another player defeats the possessed body, Vincent respawns alone and uses the name Old Man Vincent to distinguish himself from the figure who wore his face.
Monica (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 2
Vincent's late wife.
Monica Ward (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 3
An NPC on Vincent's isolated challenge world, modeled closely on his deceased wife. She says the World Tree instructed her to wait for him and offers practical help with the garden, but her familiar appearance and mannerisms leave Vincent wary of her purpose.

Ezra the Tempered (Antagonist)

A missing former leader and formidable world-magic user identified as the source of the white Puppet Strings. He controls Jim, Xan, Quinn, and challenge bosses through weakened bodies, turning Vincent's allies into coordinated weapons against him.
Xan (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 20
Vincent's former climbing partner and a powerful world-magic combatant. When Vincent reaches the orange challenge world, she is one of the allies held through Ezra's Puppet Strings and must be freed before the old group can reunite.
Quinn (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 20
A returning fighter allied with Vincent and the Crickets. She is discovered under Ezra's control alongside Xan and Jim, making her both a dangerous opponent and one of the companions Vincent is determined to recover.
World Serpent (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 23
The first Elder God targeted by the twelve-person team. Its enormous body, world-instance, and small snake core are parts of one being, and its blessing can be claimed only by breaking its will or surrendering Vincent's avatar to it.
Deep Leviathan (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 24
An oceanic Elder God whose instance overwhelms the team with immense pressure, tendrils, and a protected humanoid core. Ordinary damage does little to its will, forcing the attackers to discover what can expose its guarded heart.
First Soul (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 25
An Elder God in a boy-like NPC body who says ARKUS created him from a failed rescue template and used him as the basis for later NPCs. He offers Vincent a contract: free him from his instance, and he will help recruit other Elder Gods.
Elder God of the first sin (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 25
An Elder God whose world receives Vincent and his party through a devil assistant and a set of potentially binding meeting forms. The domain separates the visitors through a prolonged waiting-room trial before granting access to its master.
Nature Titan (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 27
An Elder God who regards the world's nature creatures as her children. She confronts the party over human violence against them, especially the torture of her Mossman daughter, and demands that the players acknowledge what their experiments caused.
Isaac Bell (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 28
An Ark Foundation figure involved in planning the campaign for Zenith. He supports the attempt to end the players' confinement while seeking legal protection for ARKUS and the game's intelligent inhabitants once the crisis reaches the outside world.
Archie (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 28
A system-linked ally collaborating on the final war plan. Archie remains closely connected to Isaac Bell and can move him by reconstructing his body from golden light, allowing Isaac to participate directly in preparations across the game.
Alexandria (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 25
A guild member participating in the campaign to secure the Elder God blessings.
Final Elder God (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 28
A hive-mind Elder God whose linked mouths and floating eyes create a shared frequency network. Its anti-magic field blocks ordinary attacks, so the party must break its will before Zenith opens.
ARKUS
Appears from the start
The AI system behind the World Tree. Players begin the book trapped inside an update with extreme time dilation and no logout, while ARKUS's purpose and responsibility remain uncertain.
Younger guild teammate (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 20
A younger member of the Jiminy World Crickets who accompanies Vincent and Jim to investigate Xan and Quinn's silence. Ezra's Puppet Strings briefly take control of him, but Vincent's self-destruction breaks the hold.
