12 Miles Below II: A House Reborn

By Mark Arrows

The second book of 12 Miles Below continues Keith Winterscar's underground journey wearing the recovered relic armor Journey. His expedition recovers a hidden journal on forbidden occult physics, then captures a pirate fleet and secures its help against a coalition preparing to raid Keith's clan. Returning home, Keith and his sister Kidra find their status transformed: she becomes head of House Winterscar while he secretly studies the occult knowledge from the journal, discovering he can inscribe reality-altering fractals. Examining their father's inherited relic armor with this new ability, Keith learns that their father's soul survived the family's earlier tragedy, apparently left behind in an underground bunker, opening a difficult question about whether and how to recover him.
