12 Miles Below V: The Warlock

By Mark Arrows

The fifth book of 12 Miles Below opens as Keith Winterscar's party returns from the Mite Forge with two disguised allies: his father, now controlling a captured machine shell, and the machine commander To'Wrathh, both concealed as ordinary Deathless to avoid exposing their true nature. Redirected to a pre-emptive strike on a raider stronghold, Keith takes an active combat role, helping eliminate a large force of enemy knights and freeing captives held there. Returning to Clan Altosk, the group must maintain their cover story while re-entering clan politics, and a confrontation over an old betrayal forces Keith's father to reveal the depth of his protectiveness toward his children in front of the clan's leadership.
