The second book in Beneath the Dragoneye Moons continues Elaine's training with her Ranger squad after her healer class evolves into a celestial-themed Constellation of the Healer, adding new defensive and support abilities alongside a novice fire class. As the squad travels to the town of Virinum, Elaine tests her expanding powers under her mentors' supervision, takes on public healing duties, and organizes a sponsored day of free treatment for residents who cannot otherwise afford care. When she is later abducted by mercenaries hired to return her to her old life, her squadmates track and rescue her, prompting the team to tighten its safety practices and Elaine to reckon more directly with the life she left behind.
