Anne's House of Dreams

By L. M. Montgomery

Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe are married in the old orchard at Green Gables, and they set up house sixty miles away at Four Winds Harbour, where Gilbert is taking over the country practice of his great-uncle, Dr David Blythe, in the village of Glen St. Mary. Their home is a small white house by the harbour, the house of dreams Anne had furnished in her imagination long before she saw it. Their new neighbours include Captain Jim, the old keeper of the Four Winds lighthouse, with a lifetime of sea stories to tell; Miss Cornelia Bryant, a blunt-spoken woman with firm views on men; and Leslie Moore, a beautiful and guarded young woman who lives nearby and seems to keep everyone at a distance. The fifth Anne book follows the first years of Anne's married life by the sea.
