Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

Jebediah Trapper (Protagonist)

Also known as Jeb, M&M-Lord

Appears from the start

A former soldier carrying trauma from an earlier explosion. After choosing the Impossible tutorial, Jeb loses a foot to a Krusker and survives by recruiting local fairies with candy.

Mossy-oak-in-the-clearing clan (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A fairy community able to perceive and shape Mist. Its members exchange local knowledge and practical help for Jeb's candy, naming him their M&M-Lord and becoming his first support network in the Death Wilds.

Acorn (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Acorn heads the local fairy community and serves as Jeb's principal guide to the Death Wilds. Acorn explains the local threats, helps establish the candy bargain, and begins teaching him how to use Mist.

World Tortoise (Antagonist)

Appears from the start

The enormous boss assigned as the Impossible tutorial's victory condition. Its shell carries a vast population of dangerous symbiotic creatures, making a direct attack far beyond Jeb's initial ability.

Jessica (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

The surviving assassin from the group that robbed Jeb. She accepts a partnership after her leader dies in one of Jeb's pits. Her exceptional speed and ability to reduce her effective mass complement his traps and emerging telekinesis.

Smartass (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

A fairy assigned to coordinate the competing workers in Jeb's expanding Krusker-trapping operation. Smartass acts as an intermediary while he turns candy payments and fairy labor into a reliable hunting system.

Krusker Lord (Minor)

First appears in chapter 2

A powerful Krusker miniboss selected as Jeb and Jessica's first mapped objective. It leads a herd and withstands Jeb's concealed spears until the pair's combined tactics, repeated ambushes, and an extended pursuit wear it down.

Ron (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 5

A necromancer traveling with four reanimated humans. He keeps his undead away from Jeb's safe zone and begins negotiating for equipment and a strong corpse, presenting a potentially valuable but uncertain alliance.

Siren Mother (Minor)

First appears in chapter 6

The huge aquatic ruler of the Southern Lakes dungeon. Its water attacks flatten the nearby forest, trap Jeb beneath fallen timber, and flood the shore as it tries to force him from cover. The encounter leaves him pinned and at risk of drowning.

David (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

Leader of a group of roughly fifteen survivors. David is recruiting capable fighters for a coordinated assault on the World Tortoise before the safe zones expire, and he introduces Jeb and Jessica to the larger camp's planned command structure.

Brett (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

Amanda's husband and a Soldier. He can repair damaged equipment by transferring its damage into his own body, relying on Amanda's healing to restore him afterward. Together they offer survivors an unusual but effective repair service.

Amanda (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

Brett's wife and a healer who works with him as a repair team. Brett takes damage out of broken gear, and Amanda heals the injuries that result. Their complementary abilities let them restore valuable equipment without conventional tools.

Freeman (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

A level-42 Phantom Brawler identified as the intended leader of the survivors' World Tortoise raid. He is regarded as the strongest fighter in the larger camp, making him the central figure in its attempt to complete the tutorial objective.

Eddie

First appears in chapter 10

An aggressive power-holder in the survivor camp. He objects to Ron's presence and shows an immediate interest in Jeb's equipment, placing him at odds with the newcomers despite the planned joint raid.

Casey (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 14

A wounded pregnant teenager Jeb finds during the attack on the fairy clearing. After he treats her injury, she goes into rapid labor while the clearing remains under assault, leaving her dependent on Jeb and the fairies for immediate protection.

Casey Thompson III (Supporting)

Also known as Casey Jr.

First appears in chapter 15

Casey's newborn daughter, delivered during the attack on the fairy clearing and carried to safety with her mother. She depends on the group for shelter and protection as they establish a temporary refuge on the fire mountain.

Mike (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 16

A tiny winged, sword-bearing guardian summoned when Casey activates her Mist core. He calls himself her guardian angel and appears ready to protect her, although his true origin and the limits of his connection to Casey are not yet established.

Copper-skinned war leader (Minor)

First appears in chapter 19

The leader of the copper-skinned hunters who attack Jeb's group near the fire mountain. He survives Jeb's defensive marble traps and retreats wounded after much of his force is destroyed.

Felicia (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 20

The fire Titan revealed when the mountain awakens. She emerges from beneath the party's former shelter and directs her immense strength against the World Tortoise, repeatedly crushing it as the humans flee the destruction around her.
