Brushfire
Continuing the Expeditionary Force series, word of the human-operated ghost ship Valkyrie and its commander Joe Bishop begins spreading among the Jeraptha, opening a path toward a cautious new alliance. Bishop uses Valkyrie's power openly, striking a Kristang-controlled planet in retaliation for past atrocities against captured humans and declaring publicly that Earth now controls Elder weapons technology. The crew then mounts a high-risk rescue of hundreds of enslaved Keeper prisoners held by a hostile Kristang clan, using stealth teams to disable a rigged detonation system before Valkyrie can safely intervene, and turns next to destroying a heavily defended Thuranin bioweapons facility deep underground.
