Crucible

By James T. Callum

The fourth entry in Beastborne opens just after Hal's costly rescue of Brightsong's people, as he processes new levels and abilities while several returned allies discover they have mysteriously lost their character classes during the crossing back. While Hal reorganizes the fledgling settlement's leadership and defenses for winter, he learns from a golden dragon guarding the valley that it has long voluntarily imprisoned its own dangerous daughter, a tyrant white dragon, to keep her from being unleashed, and that Elora's missing class may be trapped inside her dungeon-prison. Hal assembles a small party to enter that dungeon, hoping to free the daughter without killing her and recover what Elora lost, though the dungeon's dangers prove to be more than ordinary monsters.
