A former mayor who works with covert allies in Merkmire and is personally known to Hal. She accepts the risk of forbidden magical travel because she can approach Brightsong without exposing the wider network behind her warning.

A powerful Merkmire practitioner and childhood friend of the former mayor. After using forbidden scrying and transposition to help them escape, he arrives at Brightsong severely injured, useful as a possible magical ally but not yet trusted by Hal.

The former Winstrom mayor's tiefling mentor, who helps direct covert work in Merkmire. He wants to check on Hal but remains behind to continue the local effort while the mayor carries its warning.
