Dawnshard characters
Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.
Rysn (Protagonist)
Appears from the start
A young Thaylen merchant and ship-owner, once apprentice to a shrewd master trader, now adapting to a life reshaped by a fall that left her unable to use her legs. Practical, observant, and quietly ambitious, she keeps a rare exotic pet and is learning to lead rather than merely follow, weighing profit against the harder questions of duty.
Lopen (Supporting)
Appears from the start
An irrepressibly cheerful Herdazian soldier of Bridge Four who became a Windrunner, able to draw on the storms to fly and to heal. Famous for his boasts, his jokes, and his enormous family, he masks a genuine, fierce loyalty and a surprising depth of heart beneath the constant comedy.
Chiri-Chiri (Minor)
Appears from the start
Rysn's beloved pet, a rare winged creature that feeds on the light of the storms and behaves something like a cross between an insect and a small, affectionate animal. Rysn dotes on it, and it seems to be more unusual than even she realizes.
Cord (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 3
A Horneater woman, daughter of one of Bridge Four's own, who has taken up a recovered suit of ancient warrior's armor and fights as a skilled archer. Cheerful and matter-of-fact about her people's beliefs, she brings both firepower and an outsider's clear eye to the expedition.
Nikli (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 9
A member of the expedition's crew who proves to be far more than a simple laborer: a guardian bound to keep an ancient and dangerous secret buried. Watchful and evasive, it acts to prevent the travelers from uncovering something it believes must never fall into the wrong hands.
