Defiance of the Fall 14

By TheFirstDefier, JF Brink

The fourteenth entry in Defiance of the Fall opens as Zac and the Mavai chieftain are thrown out of a dimensional storm into a damaged, ancient Limitless Empire fortress, separated from his disciple Emily. Injured and using a mysterious Court Cycle Token to survive the fortress's lethal defenses, Zac heads for its central tower, judging it his best chance to find Emily, while learning that Technocrat infiltrators have penetrated Alliance command and are manipulating the wider war effort. Leaving the Mavai chieftain behind to pursue his own breakthrough, Zac fights deeper into the tower alone, tracking Emily's rescue beacon through increasingly dangerous, killing-intent-soaked sections as the token's power steadily runs out. Locating her held by a malfunctioning ancient guardian construct, Zac talks his way past it, and the pair are reunited, only to find that escaping the collapsing fortress will be its own ordeal.
